Thunderbird Ranch is fully Accredited by The American Camping Association. Thunderbird Ranch Summer Camp was founded in 1962 by Arline Johnson, having evolved out of the Johnson's family's wish to combine their extensive horseback riding careers with their goal of providing a unique and positive recreational experience for children. The ownership and direction of the camp was assumed by Arline's son, Bruce Johnson and his wife Liz, have developed the curriculum of Thunderbird over the years to reflect current sporting trends, while still maintaining the basic activities that have helped Thunderbird remain one of the outstanding summer camps in Northern California. The f orthcoming summer of 2004 marks our 43rd season.

Awesome trail ride

A girlfriend and I have wanted to take a trail ride for some time. We scheduled a one hour ride at Thunderbird Ranch and I can't wait to do it again. Diane, the guide was super flexible and informative. The horses were beautiful and obviously loved. We rode through vineyards with many "post card" views. The whole experience was spectacular. We left feeling like family friends. I would highly recommend Thunderbird Ranch for trail rides.
