Brigantine Seafood Eatery

I just had the pleasure of dining at Brigantine Seafood Eatery and Market in Hawthorne--WHAT A FIND! I stumbled upon their 15% off coupon in a circular I picked up at the Parkway Diner on Rt. 46. Ordinarily, I would've skipped right past an eatery that I found advertising there, especially a seafood joint of all places, but when I read the magic words "Fulton Market," I knew this place could not disappoint as far as food quality was concerned. If you grew up in Bergen County like I did, you know what I mean. So, off we went this evening to test the waters (no pun intended) and I was awed and impressed on every front. We got there near closing, so aside from one apparent regular sitting at the (oyster) bar, we were the only ones there. We were greated by the chef/owner, who's incredibly outgoing and clearly passionate about his establishment, both as a business and a family tradition, which is very enviable, especially these days. We started with a perfectly sized shrimp cocktail, complete with top-notch, homemade cocktail sauce...just enough kick of horseradish to enhance the flavor without it being overpowering. Along with that, we had the BEST bowl of lobster bisque I've had, well, EVER...the perfect blend of cream and sherry and, most importantly, chock full of fresh, tasty lobster. Next, we had two of the day's specials: blackened salmon and carmelized scallops. In a word: outstanding! A very healthy portion of salmon, lightly blackened to perfection and a generous portion of very large, firm scallops that were easily the best scallops I've had in recent memory. Finally, we capped off our visit with a freshly made baked apple pie, complete with a healthy dollop of homemade whipped cream...heavenly. In summary, I'm SO GLAD I took a chance on this place as it's now my favorite place to get seafood and I look forward to not only going back as often as I can, but to spreading the word to friends, family, and acquaintances to make sure this wonderful gem of an establishment gets the attention and patronage it rightfully deserves.

We have eaten at Brigantine Seafood several times. We have never been disappointed. Very fresh fish at great prices.
