I have been going to G&H for almost 10 years. I won't be giving them any more business.

About 2 years ago, I asked them to fix an electrical problem in a car. They told me it was the alternator after just looking at it. When I told the Mgr. that we had just replaced it, he asked which mechanic did the work, because he ripped us off. I told him that I had been the mechanic. He changed his story and did a diagnostic and it needed a wire replaced for about $20.

Last July, the Hwy Patrol towed my car to G&H after it had been involved in an accident and totaled. I tried to pick it up before the holiday weekend and the young man there at the desk asked me if I'd pick it up the next week and promised not to charge me for the whole weekend. It was getting late and he wanted to get off for his holiday. On Monday, I was charged the entire weekend's storage fees.

Last Friday, my son took his vehicle there to have a tire replaced. They could not remove the tire because it has an after market specialty lock lug nut to prevent theft. They are specially made for race cars so the tires don't fall off. G&H did not have the tool to remove the specialty lock nuts, so my son supplied his. When my son picked up the car, the mechanic laughed at him and whispered to the counter girl. Within 4 hours of his picking up his car, the tire fell off of the car and the entire side of the car was torn up on the asphalt. When we discussed it with the company, they claim it was not their fault and they suggested the last person who worked on it was at fault. The last company, we told them, was them, G&H. Then they claimed that someone, within 5 hours of going to their office, must have just happened to have the specialty tool required to take of the lock nuts and that the mechanic laughed at my son because he had left the car running and forgot it and the battery went dead. So, they admitted to having let the battery go dead, but denied being incompetent and causing the tire to fall off.

The best the dumb girl at the counter could do, when I told the listening customers to check their tires before they leave, was to tell me I was banned from doing business with them. Seriously??? Does she really think my coming back will EVER be a problem? They are incompetent and possibly malicious.

Take your car elsewhere. Run in the other direction. While I have had 2 good experiences with them, 3 have been bad. Getting good service two out of 5 times is not good odds!

Judging by the comments, if you are someone who can give them federal or state recommends or you are a family friend, you get good service. If they think you are joe schmo, they'll rip you off. Incidentally, I worked for the USPS for part of this time and now work for the state. Strike three and they are out. They no longer get the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, she is correct that we put one tire on the car, and yes we did need the specialty tool to replace the tire. My concern with this review is that she conveniently left out the fact that the tire that fell off was NOT the tire we replaced. The tire was on the other side of the vehicle. We waited for this wheel key for 3 days before her son brought it up, and put the tire on the vehicle while he waited. We also stated to her son that we had to jump start the vehicle to replace the tire, and he stated the vehicle had sat for a couple months while he was out of town. The vehicle that was totaled we bought from them for the charges of the vehicle instead of them having to pay the accident charges, tow it to their house and then have to pay at a later date to dispose of the vehicle. All of this was agreed upon with her husband. We are sorry she believes she was mistreated. We strive to give our customer the best service, and apologize she was not pleased.
