Sunnyside Montessori House of Children

We love sending our kids to sunnyside Montessori. They have great staffing and excellent structure for our little ones. Looking forward to sending our baby girl there in the next year!

The staff is amazing. My son went here for 2 years and now my daughter goes here. They show patience and kindness towards the children. I interviewed 6 preschools, I immediately felt at ease when I went to visit Sunnyside Montessori. I knew my children would be safe here and that they would love my children like I do.

My kids went there 12 years ago, and it was fabulous. I am a teacher and I was amazed at what my kids could do when they entered first grade! They were readers and writers and mathematicians as well as good citizens that cared for their peers and their world. I would and do recommend this school to everyone. Your child will benefit in amazing ways from the nurturing environment given at the Montessor House.

Outstanding and Amazing!!! Kids are counting and writing up to 1000; Kids are reading four to six letter words and some are reading chapter books; Kids are learning parts of animals and plants; Kids are writing and identifying countries. The kids are mostly under the age of 5. Seeing is believing!

I've been meaning to add a comment about this wonderful Sunnyside Montessori organization. We are so thankful that one of our great friends told us about this place. When we first met with the staff on our day of observation, I was blown away about their hospitality and how inviting they were! Most importantly, I was amazed how calm our daughter was when she toured this facility. All the other daycare/preschools we toured prior to visiting this facility, we did not feel 100% comfortable having our daughter being there and we could see that on our daughters face as well. Since our daughter has been enrolled last September of 2017, she always seems to ask to go back to school so she can hangout with teacher Rochelle and Grandma and of course, all of her new friends. Also, our daughters cognitive level has gone through the roof since she started at this school and I'm 110% confident it's because of the life style/teaching programs this school offers. In addition, as a parent, I couldn't be any happier seeing my daughter wake up every morning and being excited to go to school. Seeing this sheer excitement on her face, I know Sunnyside Montessori has a huge impact the way she feels about school. Last, I'm a parent of two daughters and our youngest is 5 1/2 months old. Once the little one is potty trained, we are thrilled and excited to enroll her in this amazing school. We couldn't be any happier and again, we are so thankful our friend referred us to this amazing Montessori!! I recommend any parents with little ones to check out this pre-kindergarten school, they won't regret it. :o)

My son came to this school with speech problems, but with the Director’s help, my son overcame his speech issues and is currently doing very well academically. My boys began learning many practical life skills around 3 and then writing and letter sounds at 4, and by the time they graduate from Kindergarten: They are quite cultured, have become independent learners and critical thinkers, know lots about history and geography, have learned to help greatly with household chores, are knowledgeable about different parts of animals and plants, can tell me all the main bones in the human body, can write and say their numbers to 1000 or more, can express themselves through writing, have very good addition and subtraction skills, can read at a 4th-5th grade level, and have learned a lot about kindness, charity, and loving others. There is so much more I have not included, but I believe that my boys display this kindness and respect for others because of the excellent instruction and genuine care that is provided by the Sunnyside Montessori staff. Sunnyside Montessori is an excellent school and I know many other teachers and Montessori schools that would agree with me. I highly recommend Sunnyside Montessori House of Children!

The Sunnyside Montessori School has really been an important part of our children's life. The teachers are very involved in our children's development and they give each child the personal attention they need. We are so thankful for having such a great place for our children, and we would heartily recommend this school without hesitation.

My son attended Sunnyside Montessori for almost 1.5 years. He was a late 'bloomer' at age 4 1/2. This school provided the necessary foundation for him to academically thrive in his new school. He is now in the 3rd grade and reads above his grade level. He helps other students in his class with their reading.

My daughter has attended this school for almost 3 years. She is reading above her grade level too.

I appreciate the teachers at Sunnyside Montessori and all that they have done for my children.

Our son has been attending Sunnyside Montessori for nearly two years now, and we are very happy with our decision to place him here. The methods and style of teaching that they use is amazing, as students learn at their own pace and learn a variety of skills. My son loves going to school each day, enjoys his teacher, and we are constantly impressed with the new things he comes home with each day. I'd recommend Sunnyside Montessori for anyone looking to prepare their child for grade school, and who wants a biblical influence on their child's education.

This is my son’s first year at Sunnyside Montessori. He is a very active 3.5 year old and I was a little worried at first that he wouldn’t be able to handle the Montessori structure but I was wrong. He has made so many improvements in the past 5 months with being more independent and academically. Thank you so much to the beautiful souls who teach here. My son has a strong personality and can be a handful, but these teachers have been so lovingly supportive in his growth. I have met Sunnyside Montessori Alumni mom’s around town and they always speak very highly of this School, stating that their children are top of their class and they attribute it to Sunnyside Montessori. ♥️

We sent our daughter here for kindergarten when we moved into the area. We feel so lucky to have discovered Montessori and change the course of her academic future! All the staff and teachers were kind and loving with a beautiful sense of faith, discipline and structure that has carried her through elementary school.

We moved to the area last year and enrolled our daughter in Sunnyside Montessori after touring the school and talking to family and friends who have had their children there. Everyone had great things to say about the program and teachers. After a year of being in the school, our daughter has shown tremendous improvement in her academics and self-confidence. She is always so excited to show and teach her younger brother all the new things she has learned at school. Without hesitation, we enrolled her younger brother at Sunnyside Montessori for the upcoming year.

Mrs. Gurusinghe, Ms Rochelle and all the other teachers here have been nothing short of personal angels in terms of guiding, teaching and honing the skills of our 5 year old. He went from being someone who lacked discipline, focus and had no interest in academics to a child who has nearly mastered writing his letters, numbers, reads almost everything that comes his way and most importantly has developed a genuine love of learning. He has become a much better version of himself! He can be a trying kid sometimes and only this school understood what it would take to get him on the right path and prepare him for what lies ahead. Kudos to Sunnyside Montessori for making the impossible possible in my son’s case! Thank you!

We’re so happy we found Sunnyside Montessori. Our daughter loves all of the teachers and we couldn’t be happier with her development. Their program has helped our daughter become so independent and build so much confidence in such a short amount of time. We will definitely continue her education through kindergarten and can’t wait for her baby sister to join her in a few years. Highly recommend this to all families looking for a preschool or kindergarten program!

I'm surprised that I don't see a plethora of rave reviews here yet. Note that this is likely due to the families being really busy and not due to the care at the school.

I know this because... this place is amazing! Our family just moved here from DC and we were looking for a school for my 4.5 year old boy. I wanted a structured place, where kids get taught and are not just running around like crazy. Most places we checked out either had no openings or only had part time. We happened to luck out that SM had a full time spot because a family just left.

We toured and saw how disciplined and smart the kids were! They knew the day, date, year. When playing at their desks, they were not screaming like banshees. My husband loved that they pledged allegiance to the flag, and I appreciated that they prayed and told Bible stories.

In the month our guy was there, he learned his letters and numbers and how to get along with other kids. Though the place is a tad pricey, I really think it is worth it, considering the montessori structure, plus the included lunch and snacks. There is added costs for before and after school care, but again, the assistants are great with the kids and they learn fundamentals that they will take with them as they get older.

My friend’s daughter attended this school over 10 years ago. She is 16 years old now; and to this day, have such kind words for Mrs. Gurusinghe, Mrs. Rochelle and the school. Needless to say when my kids were old enough to attend; I was excited to enroll them. We still had the same fears that any first time parent would have: Is she ready? Is she too young? Will the older kids pick on her? Will she get along with other children? Is she going to learn anything or play all day? Etc. So many things to worry about. I can happily say that after 6 years; l don’t have those fears anymore. My eldest daughter attended for 4 years and my youngest is in her 2nd year. The school gave my eldest an incredible head start going into 1st grade. She consistently tests well above her level in reading and math. This is the case with many of my friends’ kids that have also attended the school. The only downside, for me; is that I always have to find ways to challenge my eldest so that she isn’t bored. My youngest is almost the complete opposite of my first; but she has taken to the program just as quick. Within a couple of months; she was singing songs, using more words and sounding letters. As a parent, seeing their joy and excitement from learning new things is such an incredible feeling.

My 4 year old started here in the fall 2017 and he loves it. The teachers are kind and patient. The first thing he does upon arriving at school is gives his teachers hugs. He had a little bit of a learning curve since we waited until he was 4 to start, but the teachers have worked with him and he is catching up to the other kids. He is not the easiest kid as he likes to play and be silly but the teachers are very patient with him. We are so blessed to have found such an amazing school with such caring teachers. We have a 2 year old that is so excited to attend preschool and she will be attending Sunnyside Montessori soon. We trust and love all the teachers at this school. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a loving, and nurturing place to send your preschoolers.

We started my 5 year old here for Pre-kindergarten as he just missed the cutoff to start kindergarten in elementary school. He was definitely ready for more focused teaching time during the day and this school has been amazing! He is so excited to be able to do “math” and to read and write now. We’ve seen him mature into being able to sit quietly and happily for up to an hour at home writing and drawing on his own. I love the Christ-focused teaching as well.
