Related to the first item, just prior to painting I will make sure the surface is prepared. This always includes pressure washing (for an exterior project) to remove dirt and any loose paint that is flaking or chipping. That is followed by a primer coat to act as a sealant. For interior walls, preparation is just as important. We will strip off old wallpaper as needed, repair drywall holes or flaws, and then apply a primer coat. As your contractor, I am experienced in handling all of these matters.

One more thing before the painting can begin: we examine the entire surface of the house to see if any areas need to be repaired. We take care of those small carpentry repairs with a repair compound that is designed for exterior use. We also remove old caulk that is probably dry and cracked, and re-caulk the areas that require it (trim around windows and doors). We use an exterior-rated caulk on which we can paint. We also do a complete gutter cleaning at no additional charge – our customers love that because no homeowner wants to get up there and do that job!
Decks
Kruse Painting also performs pressure washing on decks. Some people might not think it is necessary to use high water pressure for this, but your deck is subject to the same variety of contaminants as the rest of your house. Just spraying it with your garden hose and sweeping it occasionally with a broom is not enough to get rid of the dirt that accumulates in the surface. In fact, you will probably be surprised at the appearance of your deck after we have pressure washed it!
Siding
Vinyl siding also has a greatly improved appearance after a good washing under pressure. Sometimes we will come out just to pressure wash the exterior of a house with vinyl siding. Obviously, this is not to prepare it for painting, since vinyl siding virtually never needs to be painted. The purpose of that wash is just to improve the appearance, and it definitely does that. Some customers are quite surprised at the difference. Since the accumulation of dirt takes place over time, and you see your house every day, you don’t really notice it much until all the dirt is gone.
Residential Roof Repair
We can also remove moss from the roof by using pressure washing. As mentioned earlier, moss that is left unattended to accumulate on the roof will eventually cause problems with the water not being able to drain properly. A regular high-pressure wash is a lot less expensive than most roof repairs! And from an aesthetic standpoint, the roof just looks so much nicer after a fresh washing that gets takes care of the roof moss removal.
