Let down

1. Wine Cellar - My husband and I went to Plum Tree because of a TV commercial advertising "visit the wine cellar". The only collection of wine I saw was a wine shelf with 200 dollar a bottle of wines. The list was not impressive. The wine we consumed was like grocery store wine. The couple seated next to us had to ask for their white wine to be cooled off and then still had request an ice bucket twice after that.2. Food - Everything we had from appetizer to entree (pasta) had a bacon flavor. Even the croutons tasted like they had been sauteed in bacon grease. 3. Seating - A couple came in and left when they requested to be seated at a more intimate table (which remained vacant while we were there) and was rejected. Except for tables against the wall, all other tables were down a line in the middle of the restaurant, almost touching. Like one big long banquet. More like a family atmosphere than an intimate atmosphere for a restaurant of it advertised caliber.

Never Again

Went to Plum Tree last night with some friends for a special evening. Big Mistake! We were put in the back room that looked like a run down country club. You had to pass chairs stacked up to get to the bathroom, sat on folding chairs. It took 20 minutes for the waitress to even come to our table and then an act of God to get her back. Finally went to the bar and got the drinks ourselves. We had to go find the waitress to ask for bread. When our entree was delivered it was in stages, where some people had to sit around and watch their food get cold waiting for the other entrees to come out. The 38 dollar fillet I ordered was way undercooked so I asked if I could send it back to be cooked some more, when it finally came back everyone was finished with their dinner and it was still undercooked! After sending it back the owner or cook(woman) came out to argue with us about the way she had cooked it. I was in disbelief!! No class! I was very embarrassed in front of everyone(and I had recom

As an eating-enthusiast, I've lived in big cities my entire life, only coming to Greenville in the past few years. For nearly four decades, I enjoyed the very finest cuisine in Dallas, San Diego, Atlanta, and New York City. Arriving here, I lamented as my palate starved while trying to pretend to like some of the places locals held out as "wonderful" food. Blech! Then ... THEN, someone suggested the Plum Tree Bistro! WOW.... finally, some gullet-pleasing grub! Compared to any cosmopolitan enclave, the chef offers inarguably the most consistent and salivating cuisine in the region. My wife and I have made this little romantic spot "our regular" haunt, and each time we go we enjoy ourselves more than the last. This is high-end food at its best. My favorite places in Dallas were The Mansion and The French Room, and I would place the Bistro here on par with them -- but the prices at Plum Tree are a BARGAIN in comparison. Again, this is just one couple's opinion, but highly refined tastes
