La Roe's Restaurant

I cannot say enough about LaRoe's. David, the owner is always friendly, and always has a smile on his face..The staff and service are amazing!!!, and the food is fabulous!!! Reservations are gladly accepted..It is the most relaxing atmosphere I have ever been to...I dine here often..It is worth the trip..Thank-you for viewing.

My friend and I stopped in for coffee and dessert. Seems simple. We were told the servings were enough for two people. LOL. The service was very slow and when I asked for a refill on my coffee, the staff seem resentful. Filling my cup half up with the remains of an empty coffee pot. Oh, do you want me to make a new pop, said the waitress. The slices of cake were very small, but ok for one person. Two thin people could never share the very small piece of cake. This the second time I visited the restaurant and was disappointed. Very poor service and attitude towards the customers!!

Happy to report I did get to enjoy a nice hot meal on a holiday and they did let us in with only 30 minutes left in there scheduled open hours. Now, our waitress first hand did not have any enthusiasm what so ever about serving us and after bringing our drinks to us proceeded to say "can I get your orders now since the kitchen is closing up?" I thought it was a very unprofessional and rude thing to say to paying customers! But her tip proudly reflected the service

Let me start by saying we went to La Roe's for a place to conduct some business, then have lunch. We started with the business and then were going to have lunch. We had been there about 30 min when the person transacting our business asked to use an outlet to plug in a small printer to print one page. The owner came out and started literally yelling at us saying we could not use the electric and demanded that we leave and never come back. He stated that it was discourteous and that he did not want us ever in his restaurant again unless we were actually going to order lunch. (We had order 2 coffee's and intended on having lunch after the business was done in about 5 minutes) We picked up our stuff and left immediately embarrassed that someone would treat us that way. I've never been treated with such disrespect in my life. I was appalled and will never to again. I will tell everyone I know about the horrible experience I had. We were, for the record, being quiet and courteous of others in the restaurant and even helped open the door for some disabled individuals that came into the restaurant. It was awful!

Valentines Dinner



LaRoe's in Grand Rapids was a special evening for Valentines. Have been there for lunch for their great soups (no one has better French onion) but this was our first dinner visit. The atmosphere was romantic- white tablecloths, pink napkins, fire-place burning and candles ensconced on the walls. We started with cocktails from the bar featuring a strawberry Valentine Martini..delicious!

Our dinners were perfect, 16oz. T-bone steak and Salmon with asparagus tips with Hollandaise sauce. For dessert we shared a slice of delectable Godiva chocolate cheesecake. We also give kudos to the staff at La Roe's, from the owner at the door to the friendly waitresses everyone went out of their way to make the evening perfect. We can see why La Roe's has been open for 35 years. Worth the drive to Grand Rapids, OH.. a beautiful river-side town.

I plan on visiting this place. Especially if there is a "Rush Special."
