Femilift for Incontinence: Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) is the loss of urine with coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping, or exercising. It is caused by a weakening of the muscles and tissues that support the bladder and urethra. Common causes of SUI include age, vaginal deliveries, and genetics.
Immunizations
Vaccinations are available for certain strains of HPV (Gardasil and Cervarix), recommended for females and males between ages 9 and 26.

Dr. John V. Sherman, MD is a board certified OB/GYN. He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a BA in Biology. Dr. Sherman attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He completed a residency in obstetrics & gynecology at the UT Houston Lyndon Baines Johnson General Hospital in Houston, Texas. He enjoys spending time with his patients and their families to develop individualized treatment plans and options. Dr. Sherman has been practicing in Georgetown since 1999. Practice interests involve minimally invasive gynecological procedures including Da Vinci Robotic hysterectomies, bioidentical hormone replacement, wellness and longevity. He is married and has two teenage children and two rescue dogs allowing an interesting, but fun family life. Dr. Sherman likes fishing, tennis, custom wood furniture design and construction, and archery. He and his family spend time together playing tennis, gardening, cooking and bird watching. Dr. Sherman is dedicated to his patients and improving their overall health and wellness.

Ultrasound
At Georgetown OBGYN, we provide pelvic ultrasound services, also known as sonograms, to diagnose and observe disorders in both females and males. This procedure is also used to assess the health and growth of an embryo or fetus in pregnant women.
MRI
Our skilled healthcare providers at Georgetown OBGYN diagnose endometriosis through medical history, pelvic examinations, and screening with ultrasound, MRI scans, or diagnostic laparoscopy. These imaging techniques allow for an internal view of the abdominal area, helping to confirm the diagnosis.

Endometrial Ablation
All of our physicians are well-trained in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of female pelvic disorders. We perform a wide range of surgeries including the latest in minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopic hysterectomy, Novasure endometrial ablation, and Essure tubal occlusion.
Laparoscopy
Diagnostic Laparoscopy: A minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows our doctors to view the pelvic organs and diagnose conditions such as endometriosis, adhesions, or fibroids.

Plastic Surgeons

Laparoscopic Surgery
The treatment for an ectopic pregnancy will depend on the specific situation. If detected early, a medication called methotrexate may be used to impede cell growth and dissolve existing tissue. If the fallopian tube has not ruptured, our team may perform laparoscopic surgery to remove the ectopic tissue and repair the fallopian tube. In cases where the fallopian tube is significantly damaged, it might be necessary to remove it.

Lesions
Our skilled and experienced physicians perform colposcopy using a colposcope, a microscope that helps identify malignant lesions on the vulva. During the exam, similar to a Pap smear, a speculum is inserted into the vagina to make the cervix visible. The colposcope allows the physician to view the area at 10 to 40 times its normal size. If abnormal cells are detected, a biopsy may be performed.

Physical Therapists

Physical Therapy
Treatment for SUI may include Kegel exercises, pelvic floor physical therapy, and surgical slings. For some women, these treatments may not be sufficient, and they may not want to undergo surgery. For these women, we offer the option of Femilift laser treatment.
