I researched thoroughly to find the best OB GYN. At my first appointment I expressed my concerns and Dr. Phelan's listened to and acknowledged me without judgment. Every appointment since January has been the same. Even when expressing my fears, anxieties, and personal struggles through this pregnancy, I am met with compassion and understanding.
Obstetrics
Originally from Oregon, Dr. Timothy E. Phelan, has studied and worked all over the U.S. in order to learn how to provide exceptional healthcare for women. After graduating cum laude from the University of Rochester in New York with a B.A. in Biology, he returned to Oregon and received his medical degree from the Oregon Health Sciences University. During medical school he saw his first delivery and from that moment knew he wanted to be an obstetrician. Knowing that skilled doctors require vast amounts of experience he sought out a residency program that was famous for its large number of patients. After a year of internship at the renowned Charity Hospital in New Orleans, he completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Moving to Northern California in 1999 he established his own private practice, Creekside OB/GYN of Folsom, to provide exceptional and compassionate care to women from adolescence to menopause. To maintain his skills Dr. Phelan is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He delivers and operates at Mercy Hospital of Folsom where he has served as chair of the OB/GYN Department, the Physicians Performance and Improvement Committee and the Interdisciplinary Committee. As a da Vinci trained laparoscopic surgeon he has the distinction of being the first surgeon at Mercy Hospital of Folsom to perform a da Vinci robotic surgery. Dr. Phelan enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. In his free time he challenges himself by running ultra-marathons.

During pregnancy you may have a wide range of emotions and symptoms: happiness, confusion, tiredness, relief, nausea, headaches and joy. All of these feelings are quite normal. Remember that pregnancy and childbirth are normal life processes and not illnesses. We are committed to helping you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
Labor and Delivery
I was recommended Dr. Phelan by a friend who had the most positive experience delivering twins under his care and after having my first baby delivered by him I would also highly recommend him. He was very respectful of the way I wanted to give birth, informed me of certain decisions I wanted to make, was not judgmental at all. My labor and delivery took its course but Dr. Phelan was supportive of my birth plan, which was so appreciated because I’ve heard too many stories of other doctors that would not have been as patient. I will be back and recommend him to anyone else looking for a kind, caring, supportive doctor.

Ultrasound
And ultrasound is an imaging device that uses safe, high frequency sound waves to create a real time image of your baby. Dr. Phelan will do an ultrasound at your first visit to confirm your due date and screen for abnormal pregnancies.
