I was apprehensive about going here after reading the reviews, but my experience was very positive and I did not experience anything remotely like some of what has been described. The staff were friendly and seemed very competent. We saw the vet in a timely manner and had very little waiting. My pet is doing much better, and I believe the correct diagnosis was made. I did not consider the charges too steep, inasmuch as this was an after-hours facility.

I will never use this vet service again. Took my rottie in late at night. He had been panting, had fluid on him. Dr didn't know of much what to do. Gave him a fluid injection and put him on prednisone. He only got worse threw the night. Took him to his regular vet early that am and new immediately what to do. Pulled fluid off, another round of fluid meds to take home and said putting my dog on prednisone was the worst thing to do. Prednisone puts fluid on a dogs lung. Said it was surprising he made it thru the night being given that. Thank heavens.

The vet here at this clinic and staff, no empathy or sympathy whatsoever. Rushed me and my dog in and out after taking forever waiting on the dr. They had to wake him up.

The prices may be high, but there are good vets there all the time, including an adjunct professor from Mississippi State's Veterinary program. I am certain they saved my dog's life when she contracted HGE, a very dangerous gastro disease that is like bloody colitis and can kill a dog in a matter of hours. She got sick on Saturday night, so the pet ER was necessary. She was in the hospital for two days and they sent home medicine for one week to clear up the 'bug' or whatever causes HGE (not known).

It doesn't matter where you take your pet to be treated for a serious illness or injury these days--you must be prepared to pay a lot if you love your pet. It's not like going to the doctor yourself and having health insurance to cover part. This vet hospital has cutting-edge equipment also, which is expensive. As for pet insurance, I found out the hard way it is worthless!

My final word is that if my beloved dog got so ill outside the hours of her regular vet clinic, I would not hesitate to take her to this Pet ER hospital because she means more to me than money (even though I don't have a lot of that).

It all comes down to priorities. As for the hospital staff wanting a signature that the patient's owner will be responsible for the bill, that's no different from a hospital for humans. They can't stay in business if they aren't paid.

Just recently had to take my small dog to this clinic because my regular vet didn't have time to see him (this was an emergency!). Was a little hesitant about taking him after reading the reviews. However, I have nothing but good things to say about this facility. The staff was very friendly and genuinely concerned for my pet. The attending vet was so nice and gentle with my little one. Thanks, MSU for a first rate emergency pet care facility!

Worst Vet Clinic!!!

Twice I have used this clinic. The 1st time was March '13 when my 14 y/o lab/chow mix was hit close to midnight. Her injuries were too extensive and I didn't want her suffering. As the vet was administering the meds and I was saying my final goodbye to Rambler, a vet tech shoved a clipboard in my face asking me to sign the authorization. Callous, just callous!

This morning my sister's 14 yr old mix Lilah was hit. I took Lilah there like our vet regular vet advised. I was presented with an estimate of $999 to $1079 for surgery to remove Lilah's protruding eye but the didn't give a prognosis, tell me if she had broken bones, internal injuries or a head injury. When I explained I didn't want to subject her to eye surgery needlessly without knowing the extent of her injuries, he asked if I want x-rays. I was presented an estimate for x-rays from $600 to $660. After talking with my sister and seeing Lilah again, we decided it was best not to let her suffer any longer. I signed the appropriate paperwork & paid for the services. As the vet was administering the final injection, he said this was for the best considering the extent of her injuries and that she would have a very long road to recover if she recovered.

If you need emergency vet care, you do not want to use this clinic!

Worst animal hospital ever

Never will I recommend them to anyone! All they are concerned about was their money. I thought animal clinics were supposed to HELP your animals out in every way possible. Not this place, evidently. Brought my dog in who had parvo (and if you've ever had a dog who has had parvo, you know it is a NASTY virus which literally kills your dog/puppy from the inside out). WELL, they wanted one thousand dollars to keep our puppy to treat him! Who else has that cash just hanging out in their pockets? Not this chick. Well, there was an option to apply for a loan, well it being late a night we didn't hear back from them. Well the vet wouldn't start treatment anyway, so they made us take that poor puppy home. Well, parvo took his life that night. And come to find out the next morning, we got approved for the loan. We were extremely furious. They were way too concerned about their money than taking care of our animal. Then, we also had a cat with a urinary tract problem died under their care. Not please. Never ever go there. Several terrible experiences.

i would never use them again!!...

i would never use them again!!!! i brought my dog in 2 years ago, all they were worried about was money instead of worrying about my dog who had gotten into some poison who was laying on the table in pain, they dont care to work with you its all about MONEY , they went ahead and put my dog to sleep which i never gave approval to do so............about a year later i had to take my cat in to crossgate for a wound on her neck the dr we normally use was out on vacation little to my surprise the same dr from this place walks in!!!!! i decided to give him another shot because i had already been waiting for atleast 30 mins , very next day i find my cat under the couch throwing up and drooling all over the place, i decided to look up the medication he had prescribed to my cat online and read soo many articles saying that the medicine was not to be given to cats because it causes death!!!! so i call the idiot up to question why on earth he would prescribe that to my cat, he never would call back......i wouldnt reccommend anybody use them

Staff has incredible knowledge base and is very compassionate. This clinic is an affiliate of MS State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Highly recommended when you have an after-hours emergency.
