Dental Examination
The health of your child’s teeth and mouth is very important to their well-being. While routine brushing and flossing at home is necessary to keep your child’s smile looking its best, visiting the dentist for a comprehensive exam and cleaning is essential. The American Dental Association recommends that your child visit the dentist every six months to ensure his or her teeth stay healthy and smile stays beautiful.
X-rays
Dental x-rays: For children age 4 years and above, we recommend taking a baseline set of x-rays at the first visit.

Teeth Cleaning
The first visit is usually short and simple. In most cases, we focus on getting to know your child and giving you some basic information about dental care. We will answer any questions you have about how to care for your child’s teeth as they develop, and provide you with materials containing helpful tips.The doctor will check your child’s teeth for placement and health, and look for any potential problems with the gums and jaw. If necessary, we will perform a professional teeth cleaning, and apply fluoride varnish.
Fluoride Treatment
Dental Sealants
Sealants cover the pits and fissures in teeth that are difficult to brush and therefore susceptible to decay. We recommend sealants as a safe, simple way to help your child avoid cavities, especially for molars, which are hardest to reach.

Fillings

The treatment options we use for children will depend on many different factors and can be quite complex. The two most important factors are the child’s age and their risk of developing future cavities. The treatment can range from simply monitoring or “watching” a cavity in a small child or an older child who will lose the baby tooth soon, to having to do a crown or cap in a child who has large decay on the tooth.
