My family recently had to use an ambulance service. 911 was called, the paramedics came into the house to assist my relative that could NOT walk. He was in bed and they had to use a "lift" belt to help him up. They were able to get him up and get him out of bed. They asked him to take a couple side steps (with their asst.) he did. They both helped him to the gurney and proceeded to the ambulance. On to the Hosp they went.
Here is my problem with "mis-coding". I recently rec'd the statement saying DENIED by INS. I called and asked why? The answer that was given to me was....
"He Walked to the Gurney. He Didn't Need an Ambulance". Someone of his age (85)
That has worked ALL of his life and DID need the service, has to suffer because of
MIS-CODING??? If you ask MY opinion... It's because they (Abbot) have to take a discount from Medicare and they (Abbot) can charge him the full amount. FAIR???
You decide....
