It is important to understand how diabetic wounds form and what to look for to care for them properly. With proper diabetic wound care, most injuries can heal successfully.

When you squeeze a nerve, you disrupt the normal delivery of sensory information from the brain to the body. So, you can develop some nerve pain, numbness, and tingling. This is a pinched nerve.

Bunion Surgery
Surgery is the only way to fixâ€”and permanently eliminateâ€”a bunion. During bunion surgery, our doctor will remove the bunion and realign the big toe joint. The surgical procedure you undergo will likely depend on the severity of the bunion itself, as well as the condition of the bones and connective tissue surrounding the joint.
Bunions
Bunions can be caused by the natural shape of your foot and/or the way you walk. If you have an abnormal gait or foot structure, the pressure on your big toe joint can force it to bend inward, essentially making it possible for the bones near the front of your foot to move out of their proper position.

Peripheral nerve surgery to decompress nerves that may be damaged due because of pressure or obstruction by other structures in the foot and ankle.
Ingrown Toenails
If you notice pain, redness, swelling, or extreme sensitivity around the edge or border of a toenail, donâ€™t ignore it. While they can sometimes be treated at home, ingrown toenails that become infected or keep returning are serious concerns, particularly for those with diabetes or poor circulation.

A bunion can form on one or both feet. Sometimes a bunionâ€™s formation can cause other foot issues, including the development of corns and calluses.
Ulcer
Even a small problem, when left unattended, has the potential to turn into something dire. Even a small nick to the foot can turn into a serious ulcer, thanks to several factors that can work against a diabetic patient. Quickly discovering wounds of any size and giving them the prompt and thorough care they need is essential to preventing major complications.Â
Calluses
Corns & calluses are areas of thickened skin that build up in response to sustained pressure or friction. Calluses tend to be wide, flat, located in weight bearing areas (such as the sole), and rarely painful. Corns tend to be shaped more like cones, with an area of soft and inflamed skin surrounding a harder â€œcore.â€ They are more likely to develop on and between toes, and are more likely to be painful.
