Teeth Cleaning
It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.

Bridges

Dentures
Clean the retainer thoroughly once a day with a toothbrush. Do NOT use toothpaste, this causes scratching and discoloration. Use warm but not hot water. Brushing retainers removes the plaque, and eliminates odors. Denture cleaner or other orthodontic appliance cleaners can be used but do not take the place of brushing. Hand soap or dish soap can be used to supplement cleaning.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are long-term replacements for missing teeth that your oral and maxillofacial surgeon surgically places in the jawbone. Composed of titanium metal that fuses with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration, dental implants never slip and never decay. Because dental implants fuse with the jawbone, bone loss is generally not a problem.

Oral Surgery
Most children lose all their baby teeth by age 13, and by the end of their teen years, the jaw bones will harden and stop growing. Orthodontic procedures for adults often take more time and can involve tooth extraction or oral surgery. Receiving early orthodontic treatment as a child can help prevent the need for orthodontics as an adult, leaving little to no chance of extraction or surgery in the future.
