General Info
Four Rivers is a family owned business founded by a Father and Son team. Four Rivers goal is to establish long-lasting customer relationships. Our highly experienced and energetic staff takes great care to always achieve our mission of providing high quality services that meet our clients’ needs in a cost-effective and timely manner. Michael Selph, P.L.S. with over 40 years of experience, began surveying while in high school. After graduation, Michael went to work full time as a crew chief for a large Engineering and Land Surveying firm. As a young surveyor Michael was responsible for laying out the City of Rotunda West in southwest Florida, consisting of several subdivisions, golf courses, water and sewer treatment plants, roads, canals, storm and sanitary sewer networks, etc. In 1992 Michael opened his own land surveying business in southwest Florida where he focused on construction layout, parcel subdivision and platting, boundary surveys, topographical surveys and ALTA/ASCM surveys. After a successful 15 years of business, Michael decided to move to western Kentucky to join his son, Jacob. Jacob Selph is also a P.L.S. & an Engineer in Training with over 20 years experience. Jacob is a graduate of the University of Louisville, where he received his Master of Engineering Degree focusing in Hydrology. Jacob also received his Certificate in Environmental. Jacob and his father have been surveying together since he was a young child. After graduating high school in Crittenden County, Kentucky, Jacob moved to Florida to work for his father. Following working with his father for several years as a crew supervisor and office manager, Jacob went to the University of Louisville to pursue a degree in Engineering where he graduated with highest honors. While working with Land Surveying and Engineering firms in Kentucky, Jacob realized the need for engineering and surveying services in this area. After a careful planning process Jacob and his Father decided to open Four Rivers Engineering & Surveying in Eddyville, Kentucky. Patrick O’Bryan, P.E. graduated from the University of Louisville in 1969 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Patrick soon acquired his license to practice both mechanical and civil engineering in Kentucky. Patrick worked nearly 30 years with the Louisville District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. For 22 of those years, he performed hydrology and hydraulic design, developing practical and cost effective solutions to various rainfall runoff problems. Some of Patrick’s design expertise includes: drainage channels and culverts, stream bank erosion causes and remedies, storm sewers, detention basins, ponds and lakes, and numerous types of flood protection measures. Patrick also gained valuable experience in project planning and cost estimating, project construction and quality control inspections, specifications writing, and communicating with individual customers and government officials.
