I'm very happy with this tcf branch. Service is almost always prompt and courteous. I don't have any hidden charges on any of my accounts like others claim they do.

Worst than the mafia

Unfortunately you won't let me give no stars. Horrible customer service, hidden fees, if you're thinking of trying TCF save your time and money and go anywhere else.

I wish I could give ZERO stars!

Just recently, TCF sent me a notice saying that they were switching me from Totally Free Checking to Convenience Checking. Out of nowhere and for no apparent reason, they're now saying that unless I sign up for direct deposit or keep a minimum balance of $500, they will charge me $9 per month. Whatever TCF. I was a loyal customer of your since 1998... and now you pull this crap? See ya! I'm now looking for a NOT FOR PROFIT credit union.

HORRIBLE!!!

GRRR... This is the worst bank ever!!! You cannot call the local branch. Being a customer of their's for sometime now I thought this was typical for a bank. Now in my research it seems they are the only one like this. I actually have pleaded with them to let me speak with a rep at a local branch even by having the call transfered so they did not have to give out the number. No luck. Next, You cannot call the wire department. I have a company that utilizes wire transfers on a regular basis and you are not allowed to contact this dept. unless you are an employee. Every week I wire my payroll because they do not do reverse wire transfers. Most of the time I will do the wire in the am only to find out they dont process till later which results in my vendor receiving payment late thus delaying my services. Then the straw that has broke the camels back. As I mentioned due to them not doing reverse wire transfers I have to go in every week to personally do a wire tranfer to make weekly payroll. ( which is screwed up regularly) Originally, they had two redeeming factors. One, they have the best hours of operation for any bank. 2nd the employees there. Notably, Nicole, Jeremie, Whitney, and Michelle have been a pleasure to work with. However, the ignorant girl who I believe is named Ann has just cost them 5 customers. My personal and business account and 3 associates of mine. Her attitude positivley sucks!! Yesterday, I went to go do my weekly unneccessary wire transfer and forgot my id. The ignorant Ann despite seeing me in there on a weekly basis for 3 years refused to make an exception. She says "company policy" I understand certain things are done for the customers protection but I am not John Doe off the street. I am a regular customer and her sterile ignorant approach is just stomach turning. So anyway, it is snowing bad yesterday and I have to drive all the way to the next town where despite not knowing my face they process the wire after I verify a few security questions. She has no business in a customer service position. Despite leaving the bank anyway, I do plan to do what I can to have her terminated. I have accounts at Chase and US BANK and have nthing bad to say so there are plenty of fish in the sea. Stay away from TCF!!

Hidden charges + Horrible customer service

When you signup with this bank they make it seem so nice with their "free checking". After signing up a new account specifically asking for no new checks they of course sent me checks and charged me. Calls to management asking for a refund were useless. It took a month to get my check card after they didn't send it in the first place and could activate the card when I got it. What they don't mention is the hidden fees for things like debit card transactions, horrible customer service and holding certified checks for upto 5 days. They will also show checks as being posted and available on your online account while they funds really are not. With no one in line you can also count on 5 minute waits just to deposit a check even with a deposit slip. I would highly recommend you take your money somewhere else.
