        The Office of the Chief of Police, a part of the Columbus Police Department, provides crime prevention and law enforcement services to the city of Columbus, Ga. It operates a budget office that is responsible for federal grant management, invoice administration, reimbursement of claims, procurement of office supplies and conducting internal audits. The office also has a polygraph unit that conducts polygraph tests related to criminal and administrative issues and pre-employment background processing. In addition, the Office of the Chief of Police has a crime analysis unit that collects and analyzes crime data to detect trends and areas of concern. The Office of the Chief of Police also administrates the activities of other specialized units, including a Special Weapons and Tactics team, narcotics unit, and emergency response and honor guard teams.

        The phone number you have is for the 911 Center Administrative office not information for the police department. The information number should be 706.653.3000 or 311.

        the police department has Bureau phone numbers for each bureau with a person to answer the bureau phones not a main switchboard other than the citizen's service center at the 3000 line or 706.653.4000 or 311 phone numbers.
