Founded in 1933, Sloan Construction is one of the largest heavy highway and general contracting companies in North Carolina and South Carolina. It offers a range of heavy construction services, such as excavation and site work, underground utilities, asphalt paving, bridge construction and materials supply. The company s clients include transportation departments, local governments, private developers and corporate entities. Sloan Construction operates a division, Eastern Bridge, which constructs prestressed concrete, steel, flat slab and various types of pedestrian bridges. It also maintains Larco Construction, which a leading asphalt material supplier for construction projects in the Piedmont Triad region, as well as provides material hauling, equipment maintenance and project management services. Sloan Construction has received the Best Highway-Heavy Pinnacle Award. It is comprised of more than 500 employees.
