Great American Tackle Shop

Gary is one of the kindest and most knowledgeable fishing guys around - and his shop has pretty much everything you need to rip some lip. Gary is all about quality, but is conscious about your budget and will give it to you straight. I wish there were more store owners like him, I can't say enough good things about this shop. Hours are convenient too, I can get in there before work or afterwards while other small specialty shops are closed 80% of the time. Shop here, he will take care of you.

I have shopped the Great American Tackle Shop many times & ALWAYS get good advice, suggestions to improve my technique and products that are productive in the local river(s).



In conversing with Gary, I allow him to wait on other customers and patiently wait to continue the conversation.



And yes, I pick up fishing gear when I stop by, because it tends to be targeted to the local rivers, not two aisles of stuff that won't catch the dumbest of fish.





I fish the Sandy, Gary specializes on the Clackamas, but most of the information transfers.

Contractor work is kind of slow right now so thought I would get back into fishing.Have been shopping and the big outfit stores but decided to got to a small tackle shop beacuse I would rather support small business,(being a small business guy myself) so went in and asked for some advise and was surprised to hear him say" depends on how much you spend", he was not really intrested in trying to get me set up so he could sell some tackle , acually didn't really give me the feeling that he wanted my business,or even wanted me fishing his river.I don't really see how people get away with doing business like that,maybe he had a bad day or maybe he just dosen't care about selling anything.I will take my business back to the big outfitters where prices are good,people are friendly and helpful.
