Preventive Care

Dental Care
This stage is identified by red, inflamed gums and a strong odor from the mouth. Your pet will experience pain and may not want to eat. Your veterinarian will recommend a dental cleaning at this time and home care to prevent further development of gingivitis.
Vaccination
As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Vaccinations, heartworm prevention and routine deworming are important components of wellness care and can prevent diseases that are not only life-threatening, but very expensive to treat.
Nutritional Counseling
Some of the symptoms that your pet may be having problems include showing a decreased interest in food or they may approach the food bowl and then show a reluctance to eat which may result in weight loss. Bad breath and blood tinged saliva or drool may also be noted. If the pet is in extreme pain they may vocalize their discomfort, paw at their mouth or shake their head frequently.
Comprehensive Examination
Veterinarians recommend regular wellness exams for the same reason your physician and dentist recommend them – if you can detect a problem in its early stages, it's more likely to be treated and resolved with less expense, less difficulty and better success.

Pain Management

Skin Condition and Allergy Treatment
Sometimes you'll find that there is no food sold on the open market that is appropriate for your pet, (often because of food allergies or intolerance) and in that case a prescription diet may be in order. We carry a large variety of prescription diets, and are always happy to place a special order for you if we don't have exactly what you're looking for.
Upper Respiratory Illness Treatment
After the doctor has performed a pre-anesthetic physical exam and reviewed the pre-anesthetic lab analysis, the pet is put under general anesthesia. The heart and respiratory system will be monitored using safe and modern anesthetic protocols including electrocardiograph and pulse oximeter machines. Most pets wake up minutes after the procedures are completed and we provide warmth during and after anesthesia to prevent your pet from cooling and to keep them as comfortable as possible.

Heart Disease Treatment
Several non-invasive tests performed regularly can help your veterinarian detect early stage disease and provide a baseline for measuring changes. Pet's also require special attention to dietary needs as they get older. Obesity in pets is often the result of reduced exercise and overfeeding and put's the pet at risk for problems such as heart disease.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Untreated gingivitis progresses to periodontitis and can lead to life-threatening spread of bacteria throughout your pet’s bloodstream. Periodontal disease is the inflammation and infection of the tissues surrounding a tooth. Build up of tartar causes gum recession around the tooth. As the infection spreads, it causes the gums to recede, exposing sensitive tooth surfaces. This is extremely painful for the pet and should receive medical attention immediate

Veterinary Surgery
Even with the best lab equipment and consulting available, it is sometimes necessary to perform surgical procedures to solve your pet's problems. We take surgery and anesthesia very seriously - there is no such thing as a "routine surgery." During your pet's procedure we follow the same precautionary standards for sterility and post-operative care as in human hospitals.
Spaying and Neutering
Have you acquired a new puppy or kitten lately? Our veterinarians will work with you to develop a wellness plan for your new baby, based on their individual needs. Puppies and kittens require a series of vaccinations, which will mean several visits with the doctor while they are young. Spaying and neutering is usually recommended around 6 months of age, depending on the specific animal. Make an appointment with your veterinarian to have all your questions answered.

Laboratory Services
Like people, dogs and cats are living longer and it is important that we help ensure these extended years are the happiest and healthiest possible. Consider that your pets age at a rate of 5-7 "human years" for one "pet year". What we often fail to recognize is that this means that diseases progress 5-7 times faster in pets than in people. We recommend that all pets "over 50" have routine blood tests and examinations to search for age-related conditions before it's too late.
