I toured this place a few months ago. I called and made a reservation to send my two dogs here for a week. I told them the room I wanted and the dates. There was no problem said the room was available for those dates. I gave them my name and the dogs name and we were all set. I called about two weeks before they were going there just to make sure I had all the information they need still no problems. So we went to drop them off four hours before our flight and they informed us that they couldn’t take them due to their renovations. Are you kidding me I am finding this out on my way out of town. We had to hurry up and find another place that could accommodate our two large dogs in about an hour. Luckily we found a great place that could accommodate us on such short notice. We will never use them and will tell all of our dog friends not to use them.

We have a special needs dog. He's 14, has difficulty walking, special feeding instructions, etc and they were amazing! Put our minds at ease, gave me frequent updates, went that extra mile for him. I wish we had discovered them sooner. 100% recommend to anyone looking to board their pets!

We took our 14 year old Golden Retriever to be boarded for one week. we received call that he had been chewing his tail and there was a spot of blood. We reiterated to take him to our vet if it worsens and contact us. Two days later, we receive a call from a vet we do not know that Valley of the Hounds took our dog in and that they had to AMPUTATE all but 5 inches of his tail due to severe infection. The vet returns our dog back to Valley of the Hounds. A couple of days later, we receive a call from the same vet that Valley of the Hounds brought our dog back. The surgery site is infected as there was fecal matter in it. It is so infected that they might have to remove the rest of the tail which is invasive surgery. Valley of the Hounds did not tell this vet about the arthritis medications he takes. We were on a carribean cruise so we could not come back. We are still waiting to see if our dog will survive. They should not be in business. We do not know that his tail was not traumatized by another dog or person.I cannot believe that my dog had to go through such horror.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG to Valley of the Hounds.

We have been taking our dog here for daycare since she was about 10 weeks old. Valley is a wonderful place, she is always super tired when she comes home, she loves all the staff members and gets really excited anytime we tell her that we are going to daycare. The staff has been nothing but wonderful with her! We tell all of our friends with dogs about Valley since our dog loves them so much! Highly, highly recommend them for daycare!

Unbelievable!! I called there today at 2pm...the day before Easter because I need to board my dog for three days. The person who was going to watch him fell and broke her foot. I spoke to Christy... I told her I've never boarded an animal and asked what the procedure etc is. I called her back with his vet records in hand. I read her all dates and told her or read her what I says for the different shots etc. She said we were all set to bring him in. So at 5:30 I came in with his records and she tells me that one of his shots expired last month and they couldn't take him. So here we are the night before Easter and have to cancel our vacay and lose $600 plus dollars we spent on our lodging because we are now past the 4oclock cancellation time. I hope they have a rotten Easter!

Very disappointed in this place. I had my dog go there and she came home COVERED in fleas. She's never had fleas before she went there. She always has frontline on, and she was even checked by the vet prior before going in. She was flea-free! I called to share my concern with this place, and they said she must have gotten them from my house. WOW. She also came home filthy which was an added bonus! I will NOT be going back.

Cooper is the first dog I have ever boarded. I was nervous to leave him with people I didn't know. So the first time he was boarded I took him to the breeder where I got him from. He loved it there, however, I decided I wasn't going to drive two hours just to drop him off. Then I found a local place and he spot a weekend there. He didn't have a good time and he was mad at me when I picked him up. So needless to say he was not going there again. Then I did some searching on the internet. I found Valley of the Hounds and it was a great find. He loves going there. He enjoys playing with the other dogs and he loves the staff. I just have to mention Valley of the Hounds to him and he wags his tail and looks out the window. When he goes there all I do his pick up his kennel bag and he is ready to go. He has a smile on his face the whole ride there. When he comes home he is exhausted from all the fun he had. As long as Valley of the Hounds is around and they will take him he will continue to go there. Thank you Valley of the Hounds for being so awesome!

Great place!!

Valley of the hounds is the best kennel I have taken my dog too! I have had bad experiences for other boarding facilities. From my dog being sick to being injured. BUT at VOTH its like a home environment my dog is comfortable and happy. They treat him as if he were there pet. The staff is always very friendly.

I haven't had any issues. All around great place!

garbage

There were a couple really sweet girls that worked there but who knows how many times and how long my puppy was crated for without attention. The last 3to4 times I showed up he was never given his food and had no water and half the time didnt know where his belongings were. I was told that the owners make rounds at night to ensure safety but the last time or 2 I left him there over night I came back to him crated in a 3x3 cage for over 12 hrs when he clearly couldnt turn around

, it was pitch dark, no water, never got his food, toys or treats that I sent, he was crying he had to pee so bad not to mention it was 90 degrees in there. Looking back I realize he was always getting his food in the morning when I got there leading me to believe my growing, potty trained mastiff was locked in these small kennels for 12+ hrs withhout his dinner nor being let out to use the restroom. They've let kids work the counter and take care of my boy that actually had to ask me where to take him and how to check him in properly. he came home with a monster cut on his nose another day. If the owners gave a crap theyd be monitoring the dogs at night taking care of them and letting them use the restroom and would also catch these things but they obviously have better things to do with their time. Ive called multiple times for explanations but no luck. They did offer a free day but why would I bring my doy back?? Hed be better off left at my house with food and water on my bed or running the house were hes comfy. Obviously there needs to be regulations on these types of b places. Everywhere else ive called has actual staff monitoring our family members 24hrs. What a waste. I feel bad I made my dog sit in those small crates for that long Without food water and attention. Its funny. Out of the couple months I used them the owners were never around whatsoever and havent even called to apologize. .straight garbage and never again

Don't take your dog anywhere else! This place is just the right size! Your dog will love the spacious rooms where he can go in and out. he will love the "friends" he will get to play with in the big arena, and he will love the attention given to him by the friendly and helpful staff. and it's affordable!

My Dog Loves It

My dog thoroughly enjoys himself & he loves the groomer. We had always been told he was difficult to groom, but she never has issues. That being said our last experience was not that great. I dropped our dog off for a week & told them he needed grooming. I said just a normal trim, do not shave him. The front desk called the next day saying they needed instructions on how we wanted him groomed & I repeated what I had already told them emphasizing we do NOT want him shaved. I pick him up & they shaved him. When I talked to the groomer she said that that was the instruction she received and not to worry it will grow back & I should always talk directly to her when I call. A) I did not call, the front office called me B) I expressly stated not to shave him C) the lack of proper communication is something management needs to deal with I should not have to wait to talk to you D) I know it will grow back, but its not what I asked for. They offered me a free groom the next time he comes in, & my dog really does have a good time when he is there. We will give them another chance, but management really needs to work with & train the office staff better. With a business like this communication amongst staff & patrons is so important!!

We left our epileptic dog ther...

We left our epileptic dog there for 5 days with specific instructions on his medications. When we picked him up, he was curled up in the corner, completely lethargic. I checked his pill bottle and found that he had only been given 2 out of the 12 pills he should have had. They also had kept him in the wrong type of kennel. And most of his food was still in the container we brought, so I can't be certain they fed him regularly either. They were very antagonistic & claimed they had given him all his pills even though it was very clear they had not. If you care at all for the life & well being of your pet, I would not recommend you leaving your pet with this kennel. When we told our vet about it this weekend, they said they had heard bad things about this place too & recycled their brochures right then so no one else would be encouraged to go there.

Sooooooo nice!

I'm so glad I found Valley of the Hounds. My dog has never liked being boarded, and I felt so guilty. When we pull up now, she goes nuts bouncing all over the car! She runs right into the house and gets comfortable like she lives there. I will always take my girl here and I recommend it for the personal care they give. The place isn't huge and it's like all the dogs know eachother. It's like a doggie reunion every time we go back.
