I am disgusted by the way things were handled. Dealing with child custody is always difficult, but in this case, the magistrate didn't even bother reviewing all of the evidence before making her decision. Getting out of the military and beginning a new life as a civilian means taking a severe cut in monthly gross income. After utilizing the Florida Child Support Calculator with all of the accurate information, the payments should have gone down to match the income. Especially after producing updated pay stubs. In this instance, that was not what happened. The magistrate didn't even look at the new pay stubs to determine the amount of child support due. Instead, she pushed them aside with nothing but a glance and declared the amount to be $80 more than can be afforded. When concerning child support and other care, I believe she was more than biased. Court systems are meant to serve justice, but instead served a nice cold plate of prejudice. Dedicated to all who have served, huh?
