A brachioplasty, also called an arm lift, is a surgical procedure designed to eliminate excess fat and skin on the arms. Pregnancy
Muscles. Also, breast enlargement during pregnancy with the subsequent loss of volume after breast-feeding can result in loss of the youthful upper breast fullness, as well as sag or droop to the breasts. Unfortunately, even strict diet and exercise cannot undo these changes caused by pregnancy and childbirth, so it is common for new mommies to seek cosmetic surgery to restore their youthful, pre-baby body once they have finished having children. A mommy makeover is simply the combination of an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, with either a breast augmentation by itself or a breast augmentation combined with a breast lift. The result is a dramatic restoration and reversal of the changes caused by pregnancy, and mommy gets to look as great as she feels.
Labor and Delivery
Over time, there can be changes in the size of the labia resulting from childbirth, sexual intercourse, inflammation from urinary problems and other conditions. In some cases, women just want to feel better about themselves and less self-conscious about their labia irregularities.

Ultrasound
Varicose vein disease is a complex condition that requires a team approach to complete treatment. The venous system of the lower extremities includes many networks of veins, making it difficult to diagnose varicose vein disease solely by evaluating the skin’s surface. The superficial venous system is visible from the surface and is often what patients notice when they become affected by varicose vein disease. However, there are veins deep beneath the muscle that require ultrasound technology in order to be properly viewed. With a diagnostic ultrasound, we can determine if a patient has more serious health issues, such as venous insufficiency, which may require an alternative treatment approach.
MRI
Silicone implants are a safe and effective option for breast augmentation. Despite the misinformation that people hear about older silicone implants, modern silicone implants have never been linked to cancer or other diseases. Silicone gel implants are thick and strong, and have been tested extensively to ensure that they do not spill or leak. Silicone gel implants are popular for results that are both natural-looking and natural feeling. At RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Center, we use the Keller Funnel to aid in silicone breast implant placement, decreasing the risks and minimizing the size of incisions. These implants are also resistant to rippling and deflation, making them a great option for long-lasting results. A disadvantage of silicone implants is that they require slightly larger incisions than saline implants, and ruptures can only be detected by MRI. For this reason, the FDA recommends regular surveillance MRIs every three to four years after surgery.
Mammography
Breast implants can be placed either submuscular (beneath the chest muscle) or subglandular (over the chest muscle). The choice of where to place the implant depends on a variety of factors, including the degree of augmentation desired, the type of implant selected, and your particular anatomy. Submuscular placement is the preferred and most commonly used placement for breast implants due to its numerous important advantages. The advantages of submuscular placement include a more natural appearance, a decreased risk of visible rippling and capsular contracture, and decreased interference with mammography. The subglandular method places the implant behind the breast tissue, but above the chest muscle. Subglandular implant placement may result in a more comfortable recovery (since the muscle is not stretched), but it may be more likely to interfere with mammograms. In addition, less tissue over the implant means that the implants will be more visible and may look less natural. Rippling of the implant tends to be more evident in the subglandular position, and the rate of capsular contracture is increased. In particular, women with thin skin or very small breasts are not good candidates for this option.

General Surgery
The educational profile of a cosmetic surgeon certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery is rigorous and unique. After graduating from medical school, candidates must first complete surgical residency training in one of 6 approved ACGME accredited surgical concentrations: general surgery, plastic surgery, ENT surgery, cardiac surgery, gynecological surgery, or oral-maxillofacial surgery. This training after medical school often requires 5-8 years. Only after becoming board-certified in one of these surgical specialties is a surgeon then eligible to apply for an additional year-long advanced fellowship in cosmetic surgery through the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Following this year-long cosmetic surgery fellowship, the cosmetic surgeon is eligible to challenge the oral and written examinations to become certified by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
Ear Surgery
The earlobes are a fragile part of the body that can easily be torn due to injury, often because of an earring being ripped out of the ear. They can also become stretched as a result of gauge ear piercing or long-term usage of heavy earrings. Hysterectomy
A traditional mommy makeover surgery combines a tummy tuck and breast enhancement procedures performed as one operation. Mommy makeover and tummy tuck surgery can also be combined with additional procedures such as tubal ligation or hysterectomy with our gynecologist. Performing multiple procedures in one operation has the benefit of combining the recovery period of the procedures, and also leads to cost savings on the facility and anesthesia fees. Since some of the steps during breast and abdominal surgery are redundant, there can be a significant time savings compared to separate surgeries, and this can result in faster recovery and lower overall costs. These procedures can be safely performed in healthy patients with minimal surgical risk when performed by a fully trained and certified cosmetic surgeon in an accredited surgical facility or hospital. Most patients who undergo mommy Makeover surgery with additional liposuction to multiple areas will require an overnight stay for observation before being sent home – especially if the procedure lasts longer than six hours.

Reconstructive Surgery
Cosmetic surgery and general plastic surgery are NOT the same thing. General plastic surgery is a surgical specialty dedicated to the reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders (such as cleft palates), trauma, burns, and/or disease (such as breast cancer). General plastic surgery training focuses on the correction of dysfunctional areas of the face and body and is reconstructive in nature. Although many of the techniques developed in reconstructive plastic surgery are applied to cosmetic surgery, cosmetic surgery has evolved into a unique surgical discipline. Cosmetic surgery is an advanced sub-specialty of general plastic surgery that requires specific dedication – in addition to basic training in reconstructive surgery – in order to obtain excellent results. There are no dysfunctions in the areas of the body that are treated in cosmetic surgery – these are elective procedures to enhance a person’s appearance toward an aesthetic ideal.

Abdominoplasty
This procedure is designed to improve the shape of the waist by removing floating ribs that are not necessary for organ protection and take up space. Some patients can only achieve the waist size they desire with rib removal, with greater chance of success when combined with a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) for more dramatic results.
Body Lift
Butt implants, also called butt augmentation or gluteal implants, are a popular cosmetic procedure that enhances the contour and shape of the buttocks. Genetics and exercise play a large role in the development of the butt, meaning that a patient’s desired look can sometimes be out of reach without implants. Presently, surgical options for gluteal contour enhancement include: liposuction alone, liposuction with fat transfer (i.e. the Brazilian Butt Lift ), gluteal implants, or posterior body lift procedures. Each surgical approach has specific indications, advantages and limitations.
Breast Surgery
Photographs will be taken before and after your cosmetic breast surgery procedure. Most patients will be required to have a recent normal mammogram (within six months prior to the procedure), or we will arrange for a screening mammogram to be done prior to surgery.
Body Contouring
Results from BodyTite™ are visible immediately after treatment. However, skin tightening and body contouring will continue to improve as a result of increased collagen in the body. This means that results will be most noticeable 6 – 8 weeks after treatment. Patients will have some swelling and some soreness a few days after treatment, but these are short-term effects that fade in a few weeks. Although the skin tightening results after BodyTite™ are permanent, we can’t stop the march of time and the natural aging process. There is minimal scarring and no long-term side effects from BodyTite™.
Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is graded based on the severity of the presentation. Mild to moderate enlargement of the breast with primarily fatty tissue (pseudogynecomastia) and minimal skin excess (Grade I or II gynecomastia) can often be treated with VASERLipo® alone. Dr. Rodriguez uses the second generation VASERLipo® to enhance skin tightening in the areas treated and minimize residual saggy skin. Sometimes, a small periareolar incision is needed to remove any hard or firm breast tissue that may be present. For men with more severe breast enlargement with drooping excess skin (Grade III or IV gynecomastia), VASERLipo® is combined with more formal excisional procedures to remove the excess skin and reshape the chest, carefully concealing the scars to create a more masculine appearance.
