I used to go to Bronx House day camp back in the 1970s when I was a young child. It was fun, safe and educational. The facilities in Pearl River, NY were well maintained and the camp counselors were young and fun. My camp mates were other children that also liked to have fun in a safe and caring environment. I have spoken to parents lately who have sent their children to this camp and times have sure changed. Many kids are agressive, steal, and misbehave most of the time. The counselors are afraid to discipline the children because the parents are constantly threatening lawsuits. Needless to say many of the problem children are either black or hispanic. I am sure I will be attacked for saying that but it's the cold hard truth. These parents do nothing to educate their children at home, and for that reason they are a menace to society. They can't even behave in a day camp setting. Take responsibility for your children and stop blaming the whole world for your problems.

I am the mother of a 5 yr. old boy who was looking forward to his first summer camp experience. Much to my dismay Bronx House Day Camp failed to live up to their mission statement. Unfortunately, my child was assaulted on several occasions due to poor counselor supervision. In addition, after reporting such incidents they have chosen to not accept any responsibility. Two weeks prior to the camps end I have chosen to pull my son out due to fear on his part and no peace of mind on my end. I STRONGLY discourage any parent to enroll their child in this program.
