El Quijote

The overall experience was good though I wouldn't consider it fine dining. Despite some language barriers the staff was friendly and prompt to deliver food drinks etc. The tradition of free tortillas and dip is not common place here. We asked about it and we did receive them at the cost of $8 however they were very thick and in my opinion over cooked.( hard and heavy as opposed to light and crisp).The entrées were good, cooked properly and hot when delivered to the table. We ordered a salmon dish and a shrimp dish and can say without exaggeration that it was more than enough to eat. I believe having noticed the uneaten chips the manager offered us a free bowl of a cucumber dip. Now, THAT was worth writing home about! Overall good but you can't dress up a restaurant with lights and star mirrors and call it fine cuisine. It's a Mexican restaurant with a quaint atmosphere nestled in the blueridge mountains with good food. Prices are around $20 a plate for adults and $8 for kids.
