Overall

Honestly, one star is an overstatement. Allied Realty would get negative stars from me, if possible.

Having rented multiple properties over the years, my year spent renting from Allied Realty was an absolute nightmare! For starters, not a single one of our move-in requests was even acknowledged by them. The property needed new carpet, or at the very least a good cleaning. When we moved in, it looked like they had just vacuumed the place. The previous tenants were cat owners, and being extremely allergic to cats, I requested something be done about the foul odor filling the rooms. This obviously did not matter to Allied Realty, as the place reeked of cat for months, and the carpet was horribly stained.

Next up, the air conditioning. The summer that we lived here, temperatures rose into the high 90's-low 100's. Even with the AC cranking, the interior temperature would not drop! Instead, it rose, bringing the inside temperatures to 80-90 degrees. This was unbearable, and we fought with Allied Realty to get this fixed. It wasn't until temperatures finally dropped that they sent someone out to fix it. It was too late, we had already suffered through the extreme heat, and incurred very high electric bills all thanks to their negligence. I even lost my beloved hamster from this incident, because I could not keep her cool and she passed away from the extreme temperatures.

Before actually moving in, we discussed giving them a security deposit for a dog which we planned on purchasing. After months of literally pestering them to let me GIVE THEM MY MONEY for a dog, I finally gave up. I'd go weeks to months without a response from them after they said they'll provide the forms for me to fill out to get this taken care of. Then I'd email and call them again just to remind them about it, and weeks passed without a response. If you want to get anything done, don't bother. They will just ignore you until you give up!

The final straw was when I had actually moved out. I was awaiting my security deposit, and I expected them to take some money out because the carpet was still in awful condition as it was when I moved in - and I figured they would blame that on me. Of course, they did.. but that's not all! They also charged me to have the bathtub recaulked and the chimney cleaned! First of all, recaulking the bathtub was yet another request of mine upon moving in! Another "damage" that was pre-existent! Even then, bathtub caulk is not meant to hold up, and is typically considered normal wear and tear. Secondly, we NEVER used the chimney! Meaning, it should have been as clean as it was before we moved in. This really goes to show how much they pay attention to detail between tenants. Every single one of our security deposit deductions was a pre-existing condition from the previous tenants. Not to mention, when I discussed these issues with the agent before signing the lease, she said that the problems would be taken care of and would be deducted from the previous tenants deposit. It sure sounds like they're cashing in on these problems and not fixing them, leaving it for the next tenant to pay for - and still not get fixed.

TL;DR - Absolute nightmare of a leasing agency to deal with as a tenant. Will not listen to any requests, and they WILL take your money! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Overall
very disappointed

They claim that they have your best interest at heart, but their actions makes it seem as if the tenants are their clients, not the homeowners. I'm not really sure what I'm paying them to do each month, because they can't even handle collecting important mail for me. When confronted with these issues, the people either ignore your emails or find excuses and try to deflect the blame. I can't wait for these tenants to move out so I can terminate my contract with them ASAP.
