The Louisiana State Senate provides a range of information related to the Louisiana State Legislature. The senate consists of more than 15 standing committees. It maintains communication and fiscal and human resources service offices. The communication office assists senators in discussing issues that affect the state, as well as provides documents related to public information, media relation and citizen education. The senate s fiscal services division handles matters related to budgeting and finance. The fiscal services division additionally provides secretarial support for the Joint Legislative Committee, Louisiana Bond Commission and Interim Emergency Board. The Louisiana State Senate is a part of the Louisiana Legislature, which is a coordinate branch of the state government.
