The only thing this place has going for it is that its the only place you can go for breakfast that isn't a Mexican restaurant. I've lived here for five years and have visited several times. I've been so displeased that I pretty much go in about twice a year.
Today, my wife and I stop in for breakfast. We wait patiently for our table for about 10 minutes (not bad at all), then we are seated.
My wife ordered coffee and I ordered orange juice and water. It came promptly to the table by the hostess.
The waitress Barbara (the slowest, most incapable and unqualified waitress on the staff) came and took our order. I asked for a refill on my water. Her reply, "yes, when I can get to it".
I said I understood, as she was working several tables.
She comes back a few minutes later and refills my wife's coffee. I politely remind her about my water. She says okay and walks away, I assumed to go get the water... NOPE!
Food comes out. My wife's food is so cold that it's inedible and has to be sent back.
I ask again for some water. Barbara says, "okay let me go get that."
She leaves with my wife's cold food, returns with my wife's hot food, and NO DAMN WATER!
Now mind you that I'm having the migas! A dish loaded with fresh jalapeño peppers..... And NO DAMN WATER!
We ate our food. We paid our bill. No water. No apology. Not even a "thanks for coming... Come back again". WOW!
Now, I could write this off as a one time accurance if that were only the case. Every time I've walked into this establishment over the last three years, I have had Barbara as my waitress. This is even the case when I have specifically asked NOT to be seated in her section or to be served by her because she refuses to do the basics of serving like, "keep the glass full".
Beyond that, there is absolutely NO excuse for cold food ever.
At least the staff at the Mexican restaurants take a little pride in their work, keep your glass full, and serve hot, edible food.
Worst Of Bastrop!

My wife and I Love Maxines. We found it after moving to the Bastrop area a year ago. We have never had a bad meal there, and whenever we decide to go out and eat they are high on the list.
Their customer service is excellent as well.

If I told my best friend about this place, I would expound upon how completely upset I was at the character of this company. I have never eaten at the restaurant, being that I am new in town, but after being recieved by their management in such an abusive and truculent way, I never will. A called simply to see if they would like to be a part of a relief benefit I was hoasting, in light of recent natural disasters, and was then informed, in the most disgusting of behavioral manners, thats "Maxine's on Main has given all the are going to give, thats it... alright, whatever..." and dialtone. A simple no thank you would have sufficed. Its disheartening to be hund up on when you are putting your heart into something for the community. Either way I am sure that I will have no dealing with them in the future.
