Dr. Amato completed her undergraduate degree with Honors at Boston College and rowed competitively at Oxford University. She earned her medical degree at Georgetown University, then went on to pursue General Surgery at Stanford University in Palo Alto. She returned to Georgetown for Ophthalmology Residency and obtained board certification, then further specialized in Oculoplastic and Facial Surgery with a 2-year accredited ASOPRS fellowship in Austin, TX and at MD Anderson. She while practiced in Annapolis, MD while serving as adjunct faculty at Georgetown, in Washington, DC, then returned to the Bay Area where she practiced at Kaiser Permanente while continuing to teach as adjunct faculty at Stanford University. She has contributed to research and authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed papers. Dr. Amato has earned the respect of her patients and peers in her community, serving as president of the Austin Ophthalmology Society and selected as a Top Doctor and Super Doctor for 4 consecutive years. She is currently an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Dell Medical School. She has also enjoyed the privilege as an international speaker, educator and surgeon with a special interest in medical missions. In 2017, she founded Eyelid & Facial Plastic Surgery Associates. Last summer, she and her family had the opportunity of giving back with a medical mission trip to Cambodia and contributing their services to the Hurricaine Harvey Relief. Currently, Dr. Amato is treating patients in the underserved community in El Paso, Texas. Please stay tuned for other satellite office locations expected to come soon.
