Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is one of the most effective agents in strengthening our teeth. Fluoride treatments combined with brushing twice a day, flossing regularly, eating balanced meals, and reducing sugar intake all help prevent tooth decay.

Dental sealants are one of the most effective ways we can prevent cavities from forming on our children’s teeth. Sealants protect the vulnerable nooks and crannies of back teeth, helping to lessen the build-up of food and plaque from causing severe tooth decay. Sealants reduce the risk of cavities on permanent molars by 80%, according to the American Dental Association.
Space Maintainers
Since primary teeth guide the permanent teeth into place, infants with missing primary teeth or infants who prematurely lose primary teeth may require a space maintainer, a device used to hold the natural space open. Without a maintainer, the teeth can tilt toward the empty space and cause permanent teeth to come in crooked. Missing teeth should always be mentioned to your family dentist. The way your child cares for his/her primary teeth plays a critical role in how he/she treats the permanent teeth. Children and adults are equally susceptible to plaque and gum problems—hence, the need for regular care and dental checkups.

Pulpotomy
A pulpotomy is necessary when a baby tooth has a large cavity that reaches the nerve inside the tooth. Cavities are bacterial infections, and once the bacteria reaches the internal chamber of the tooth, where blood vessels and nerves reside, we must treat that soft tissue in addition to the hard tooth structure around it.
Root Canal Treatment
You may hear some people refer to a pulpotomy as a “baby root canal”. While it is true that this dental procedure performs some of the same functions as a root canal, it is certainly not the same procedure. Baby teeth are quite different from permanent teeth. One of the most important differences is that a baby tooth must fall out to make space for the underlying permanent tooth. A traditional root canal would prevent this from happening, which is why a different procedure is necessary.

Jaw Surgery is performed by an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon on patients who have finished growing – 14 to 16 years for females and ages 17 to 21 years for males. Orthodontic treatment begins several months before Jaw Surgery can take place. The purpose is so that Dr. Robirds can align the teeth so that they fit correctly after surgery is performed. Orthodontic treatment then continues for several months after surgery to bring the teeth into their final, optimal positions for good function.

In order for your orthodontist to position the teeth in a straight alignment within the jawbone, it may be necessary to remove one or more teeth.
