If you are vacuuming more than four times a month we suggest you replace the belt every three months, regardless of how it looks. If you have very thick pile carpeting, change it every two months. The belt, being rubber will stretch out to the point where it will not turn the brush roll when the roll’s bristles dig into the carpet. The roll will turn freely when it is not under load but once it comes in contact with the carpet, it stalls, often causing a burning rubber odor. We suggest marking your calendar for belt replacement. The Sanitaire/Eureka belts can be found at any vacuum store in town. If you or your kids are in the habit of vacuuming up solid objects you may need to replace the belt very often. Be sure to install the belt correctly. A diagram is engraved on the bottom of your vacuum.

Stain Removal
Removing spots from carpet can be simple or tedious depending upon the spot and how long it has been on the carpet. At times multiple applications of the spot removal solution, or a second solution is required. Listed below is a general spot removal procedure. If the origin of the spot is unknown, begin with step 1. If the origin of the spot is known begin at the appropriate step. Never use a circular motion to remove a spot as this destroys texture. To prevent wicking up of deep spills and embedded dry soils, the final step should always be to rinse with clear water and extracted with a Wet/Dry (Shop Vacuum) blot dry and put a white cotton terry cloth towel over the damp area. Put a brick, or suitable weight object on the towel to keep the towel in contact with the carpet. This allows any stain wicking up from the backing to go into the towels rather than remain on the carpet surface. Allow to dry, remove the brick and towels and brush up the pile.
