D F Maher Architects-Builders

I am a business owner and we demand three things of our products and employees;
Quality product.; On time; On budget
I am applying these same criteria to Mr. Maher’s design and Construction Business.
First the design. Since he designs from our ideas and makes them real on his computers we have nothing but admiration for his skill in doing so. That’s a ten.
On time;
We had a lot of rain during the construction process which added a good month to the time line to completion. I’m not sure it’s fair to blame D.F. Maher for that but never-the-less it degrades the score for timeliness to a nine.
On Budget;
We made some changes in flooring that cost us an extra six thousand dollars as Mr. Maher predicted. Besides that issue, we came in within nine hundred dollars of the predicted cost for the home. That’s very very good.
I would highly recommend D.F. Maher-Architects-Builders for your consideration and comparison to other Design Build firms.

We completed our second home with D.F. Maher Architects Builders in 2014.
This time we chose and Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) home, in what they call a, Little Big House, style of design.
It costs less money per square foot than traditional ranch and two story homes.
It is very energy efficient, strong and quiet.
We helped design it right along side Mr. Maher.
It came in right on budget and took seven months to build.
We could not be happier. A five star happy face rating.

We had a home designed and built for us by D.F. Maher Architects-Builders in 2008.
The ICF home is very energy efficient and quiet. We have radiant floor heating and having your feet and legs warm in February in Wisconsin is wonderful. We will never again be without it.
But we got most of what we wanted.
The cathedral ceilings and interior rooms are exactly as we wanted, and they should be, because we helped design them on Mr. Maher’s computers.
We don't understand why anyone would build a wood frame home when they can have an ICF house. It’s a mystery to me, especially along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts. Why would anyone build with wood there in hurricane central, when ICF is highly wind and water resistant? I can’t figure that one out.
I would recommend that you at least talk to Mr. Maher and see if his style of design and Construction Management is a good fit for you.
