Ultrasound
All Breast Biopsies are performed by a Board Certified Radiologist with either an Ultrasound-guided or Stereotactic technique. The biopsy is used to evaluate any breast abnormalities detected by a Screening Mammogram or a Breast Ultrasound. Biopsies are highly accurate and minimally invasive when done by proper medical professionals.
MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is an exam that produces images of the internal body without the use of radiation; therefore, making it safe for any age group. There are multiple MRI units that can be made available to patients within the UMIH network which include: 3T, 1.5T, 1.5T Wide Bore as well as Open and High Field Open Units if a patient is claustrophobic. A MRI exam can be used to diagnose numerous medical conditions and/or rule out a diagnosis.
Radiology
Unlike most radiology exams, Ultrasounds use sound waves, a hand held transducer and computer/monitor combination to generate images of fetal progression, vascular and arterial structures and many internal organs.
X-Rays
Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear Medicine is an exam that produces unique images, unlike any other imaging exam. The resulting images help determine how a disease affects the body, which can lead to proper treatment. It also helps determine if a certain diagnosis is benign or malignant.
Mammography
At UMIH, 3D Mammography is available at three locations: Downey, Garden Grove & Fountain Valley. All Mammography equipment is with Hologic systems and offers Computer Aid-Detection (CAD) for enhanced interpretation.
Computed Tomography
Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) is a minimally invasive scan that helps detect the narrowing of the blood vessels in various organs of the body with a special dye. It can also be used to identify aneurysms and thrombosis in blood vessels and in the brain.

Lesions
Equipped with CADstream software, this gives the Radiologist extra support in identifying abnormal lesions and allows for faster turnaround time as it relates to results.
