Shiflet's Roofing
We found Shiflet's Roofing via the website. We had storm damage to our entire roof, and needed to find a local roofing company ASAP, fearing water damage if we delayed it. After the insurance company inspected the damages and agreed to replace the roof, we contacted several roofing companies. We were not really comfortable with any of the companies that came to the house to give us quotes on doing the job. We continued our search and found Chris Shiflet, the owner of Shiflet's Roofing. I called the phone number on the website having one minute left before closing time. Chris answered the phone and spoke with me for 30 minutes, detailing how he would complete the roofing job, explaining everything in detail. After Chris came to our home to inspect what needed to be done, we decided without a doubt, to go with his company. Chris was the consummate professional. Having seen the other roofing companies and their owners, it was obvious to us that Chris was the man for the job, although we had decided just from the initial phone call to him. The roof replacement went extremely well and on time. The job was completed and the results were well above our expectations. I am writing this review not only to share our great experience, but also to help any other homeowners that may find themselves in a similar situation as we were. Thanks to Shiflet's for turning a potential disaster, into a worry-free experience. Our house was transformed from an outdated rancher from 1956, into a contemporary California Rancher in 2012. Thanks to Chris and Scott and their crew.Tom DohlerDavid RinkerGlen Rock, PA
Tips & Advices
The most common types of roofing material are:
  • Asphalt shingles
  • Metal roofing
  • Slate shingles
  • Concrete roofing
Metal roofing material and algae-resistant asphalt shingles are the appropriate roofing material for rainy climates.
Houses located in  areas which are prone to wildfires, should avoid the use of flammable roofing materials such as wood shingles.
Not only should you ask to get in contact with past clients, it is also recommended that  homeowners visit projects currently underway to see how the contractor or company actually performs during a job. You can also go online and check out other customer reviews.
Reputable roofers do offer a warranty against poor workmanship. Additionally, the material used often carries a warranty from the manufacturer against defects (assuming proper installation). It is the homeowner’s responsibility to check on the availability of all such warranties before any work is performed.
