Ed's Pet Motel
The facility is old but maintained, the smell when entering the building is not pleasant, I think it was a cleaning product (I do have a sensitive nose). They did a great job shaving and bathing my dog. I don't think they cleaned her ears and they clipped her nails but didn't file them any so they're sharp and jagged. The people were very nice and that counts a lot in my book. Overall it was a good experience. My only real complaint is that the perfume smell on my dog afterwards was overwhelming, I rinsed her again when I got home and even washed her with some baby shampoo just to get rid of some of the perfume smell. The pricing was the best in town and they fit me in without making me wait a week like everyone else. So there are definitely some pros and cons. But overall I would recommend :)

Winter Haven Kennels
I am a senior citizen and have been boarding my 100 lb. dogs for nearly 10 (ten) years at Winter Haven Kennels. The dog runs are large, clean, and well maintained. In response to Sandra S: on Saturday, March 01, 2014, I dropped off my dogs between 7:00am and 7:30am as I had an academic training in Auburndale at 8:00am - as can be verified. The owner greeted me cheerfully and efficiently. I returned later in the afternoon, unannounced, to pick up my dogs and found the kennels, as always, in supurb condition. I am grateful that the owner is on premises as much as he is, knowing full well that my dogs are being cared for as if I were there. I would strongly recommend anyone visit the premises anytime to judge for themselves.

No Place Like A Home Doggie Bed And Breakfast
We were visiting from New Orleans and I needed a private sitter for my poodle. She is very special to us and wherever she was left had to be approved by me. I called and visited with the owner and left my Angie for 10 days. Upon our return we found our dog happy and well taken care of and would highly recommend her to you. All I can say is thank heaven for such wonderful people. Thank you again - Coleen Myers

If you want a loving caring person to care for your best friend just contact this lady. She really made me very happy with her home enviroment and the way she took care of our special needs dog. She sure gave me peace of mind and when I returned I found a very happy dog.

This place is great! I had to return to India for a family emergency and they took Lil Vishnu in with no notice. They treated her like a princess and I've never seen her happier! I was almost a little jealous. They made me and my Lil Vishnu feel like family.

Winter Haven Kennels
I have taken my two dogs there 5 times and have never had any problems. They trim their nails and bathe them, there is a grassy area for them to run and play, and the kennels are large. My dogs have not complained other than they missed their Mum.

They have always been polite and ready to help. They have clipped our dog since she was a puppy, six years ago. I find they do consistently great work.

We often take our two dogs to Terrie when we go on vacation or Legoland.
Tips & Advices
Pets that do not get along with other animals may incur an additional fee. Some facilities have special solitary sleeping and play animals for these types of pets.
A checklist for what to bring to a pet kennel includes:
  • Vaccination records
  • A favorite toy or blanket
  • Food and feeding instructions (if the pet has dietary restrictions or is a picky eater)
  • Medication (if necessary, in its original bottle and with written instructions)
Some pet kennels have veterinarians as part of their daily staff, while others only have vets part time or on call.
Most kennels can provide basic care such as administering medications, but owners of pets with serious medical issues should choose a facility with a veterinarian on call.
Bordetella, commonly known as kennel cough, is highly contagious, and most dogs catch it at least once in their lifetimes. As such, all dogs should be vaccinated at least 7 days before boarding.
