02/17/2017Wallburg Landing Apartments
Wallburg Landing is relatively new, and it's a great price for the quality and amenities (which is why I'm giving 2 stars versus 1), but I have been having a lot of issues with the leasing office recently. I've been speaking to Ashley about having to break our lease because of an unforseen job opportunity coming up out of town. We spoke to her 2 weeks ago in person and asked what we needed to do in case we were to move and she never told us about the 30 day notice. We had to wait 3 days for an email response (in general you have to wait at least a day to get a response), and her emails are FULL of jargin- none of it makes sense, and then at the end of the email she'll put "I hope that makes sense" or "I hope that didn't confuse you"... If you are not competent enough to formulate a professional email you should not be the manager of an apartment complex... because your job in a nutshell is to communicate with the residents. The way she explains and answers questions can be very misleading and can leave you, the resident, in prediciments you'd never thought you'd be in because either all of the information wasn't relayed, or the information wasn't relayed properly. I know NOW that the general practice is to put in a 30 day notification, but it had to come about in a very extensive and unecessary manner... and of course at my expense. So moral of this story is if you plan to move here, you'll enjoy it, but you have to research everything on your own because you can't count on the leasing office and manager to help you, even though that's partially what they're there for.
For a grade, I give this property a solid B. Maintenance and management are usually timely in their handling of issues. Despite the 40 year age of the property, the apartments themselves are decently adequate for their price, especially given the newer appliances and recent carpet and flooring replacements. Evenings are typically quiet. The only "issue" is that there are a lot of young kids. Most are respectful and mind their own business, but there are a certain handful that are oblivious to cars as they nonchalantly play in the streets unsupervised. Despite that fact, I enjoyed living here, and the location was great for getting quickly to downtown, the mall, and to college.
