Howland Law Firm Pa
Do you need an attorney that will fight for you and get the minimum and most sinceful result for your situation? Eric Howland has been a friend, legal advisor, and defense attorney for me since I moved to Wilmington 10 years ago. I must say I just turned 21 when moving to Wilmington and life was good thank the heavens so was Eric Howland the caring attorney that had helped me and my family with all legal matters. This man is passionate, and willing to fight for his clients. Not only the present issue but long-term effects a legal issue can have on ones criminal background. That's why I must say this attorney will go far and beyond to get the justice you need. Thanks Eric for being the man you are and having the passion you have for your title. Your friend, Michelle Grant.

I was so nervous about a ticket that I had recently gotten, and the effects it would have on my insurance and license. I had talked to several different lawyers offices over the phone but Collins Law Firm in particular was very personable and very affordable and set me up an appointment for that same day. I was able to come in and sit and speak with him and have all my questions answered and feel at ease. I also had another situation going on that dealt with my landlord and he was was able to also answer all my questions for that. Would highly recommend this office to anyone who is in desperate need of answers and an affordable law firm! THE BEST!

I was referred to Mr. Collins back in Dec. 2016 for some trouble our son got into in NC. Mr. Collins was referred to us by some local residents and was well qualified to handle our case. He immediately started working on our case and was able to negotiate our case for a great outcome. Mr. Collins was very professionsal and his knowledge of the legal system was very impressive. His networking skills and his great relationships with all parites involved was able to provide us the services needed for a good outcome for our son. I would highly recommend him for any legals needs in North Carolina.

I contacted Mr. Collins about a serious traffic offense just three days before going to court. When I found out I could be facing jail, I freaked out! Mr. Collins was understanding, serious and did not hesitate to assure me that he and his team were with me. Well, he delivered more than promised. My charge was lowered saving me possible jail time, I saved over 1,000 dollars in new insurance charges and extra fees. Mr. Collins is an amazing lawyer and a kind person. If you are facing court, you need to have him on your side!

Buddy Allard is not only a great attorney but a deep down good human being who cares. His impeccable knowledge, professionalism and experience in Wilmington court is worth every penny! It's evident in the courtroom, he's very well respected in Wilmington's legal community (which is something you can't buy). Buddy went well above and beyond what I think 99.9%,of attorneys would do to clear my record. I would highly recommend him!

I really loved the way my case was handled. I called five law firms on a Friday evening and only one called me back on Friday. This was Collins law firm of course. Come Monday I was enlightened with great news. My lawyer had dismissed my case. I didn't expect them to handle my case so fast and prompt. Within one business day I heard results. I would definitely hire them again, or recommend them. Thanks Collins law firm.

Rutledge Law Firm
I have used the Rutledge Law Firm for about three years now to handle an ongoing custody case with my ex-wife. I have always been very impressed with Ms. Rutledge's quick response to my questions and concerns. I have never known her to be unwilling to work on my case (other then immediately after the birth of her children.) She has also been willing to work with me on her fees.

Tips & Advices
When it comes time to choose a lawyer, you should start by searching close to home. If you do have attorneys you are familiar with, ask who they believe would be best for you. After going through personal references - especially from individuals who had similar needs - you should broaden your search through public information resources. You can call your area's attorney referral service or check legal organizations like Martindale-Hubbell. There are other resources available online, such as yellowpages.com. You can check websites for client reviews and other third-party forms of approval.
If you sign documents and you come across a word you don't recognize, or you need help to navigate important employment or real estate paperwork. Also, during times when personal matters intersect with legal proceedings, you might need to have an advocate to prevent your emotions from getting in the way. If you've been accused of a crime or are in a terrible financial situation, you can find an attorney who will work with what you have available.
When you hire a lawyer, you're agreeing to work with someone over a certain period of time. The more forthcoming the lawyer appears to be with individual needs, the better.
  • You need to ask questions about how the attorney will communicate with you and what responsibilities you hold in the relationship.
  • The attorney should let you know the best channel for quick communication and you need to inform him or her when you want updates.
  • You should also ask questions to get to know the attorney as an individual in order to ensure this is a person you can trust. Ask about their legal philosophy and how he or she views the lawyer/client relationship. Ask as how to keep fees down or what daily disruptions you should expect from a long legal battle.
You need to ask about every possible fee that will come up when working with an attorney. You should request a list of all costs in advance so you won't be surprised by additional expenses like overhead. Also determine exactly when you will start being billed. You want to inspect paperwork carefully. If the attorney charges you for his or her experience, you need to make sure he or she will perform tasks personally and not hand it off to an assistant. Find out if the attorney has a flat fee or charges by the hour. Many civil lawyers work on contingency. Make inquiries about how the lawyer plans to provide service for your money and what you can do if you start to feel unsatisfied with his or her performance.
You can ask how many similar cases they have handled and if they have special skills or training that applies specifically to your needs. Lawyers can't mention clients by name, but you should ask for basic details about identical past cases. You should check their office for the appropriate certifications and diplomas. You can also ask how long he or she has practiced law and request information that demonstrates the practice's success. Look for precise details such as percentage of cases settled out of court.
