The doctors are great but the supporting staff need work. They are rude. Correne, who performed my first ultrasound had a major attitude. I was flustered and nervous, as many pregnant women are during their first ultrasound and did not understand her directions. I ask again what she meant and she just rudely repeated herself three times as if she had no time for me and I was a nuisance. I am a college graduate who understands just fine, but was nervous and having trouble concentrating. She is a young girl who ruined my experience. She coldly asked me how I was feeling during the ultrasound and I answered "I've been getting sick a lot" to which she said nothing to and continued on. Why ask, then? I know your not a doc but why ask if you are going to say absolutely nothing when I answer. After my husband and I left that morning, we immediately started asking around about Wilmington health, which I have really enjoyed the customer service that they have provided thus far. With my first child, three years ago, I was so impressed with glen meade and all of the staff. I was excited to start there again with my current pregnancy, but one rude associate can ruin it. I am paying you and the reason that you have a job, is because people like me choose to take their business to glen meade. Remember that, Correne, when you are annoyed that someone doesn't understand you. You have a job bc people choose glen meade. But once again, the docs are great and so is the rest of the supporting staff, that I have come in contact with.

A couple of the doctors are good. But, the administrative staff is miserable, rude, and slow. After two awful visits to "Building B", I refuse to go there and use the Brunswick Forest or Autumn Hall locations for glucola, ultrasound, etc. The "Building B" staff are the worst I have ever encountered. Please know that you do not HAVE to use that location. Brunswick Forest is excellent and Autumn Hall is friendly as well. But, having said that, I will not be returning to Glen Meade for my next baby, or for regular gynecology, because of the staff.

I have been a patient at Glen Meade for over 28 years and ever since they became part of NHRMC the practice has gone down hill. Phone calls are not returned. When you try to leave a message the recording tells you that "box" is full and you can not leave a message. When you finally get to see the Doctor they are great but the staff follow up and behind the scene assistance is terrible, to the point my daughters and I will be looking for a new OBGYN.

Wonderful experience on all fronts. I totally disagree with any rude staff comments below. They are very sweet. This is my second baby and I feel like they know me and care about me. I like all of the doctors. I can only remember 1 time when the wait time was too long. They have always taken my concerns seriously. Dr. Foiles delievered my first baby and had wonderful bedside manner. I would be happy with any of the doctors delivering my second boy.
Tips & Advices
OB/GYNs learn to treat infertility as part of their standard education. OBGYNs who further their training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility are known as fertility specialists.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a treatment where medication is used to replace hormones a woman's body does not create naturally. Women are prescribed either estrogen alone or a mix of estrogen and progesterone. The former is given to women who've had hysterectomies, while the latter is for postmenopausal women. HRT used to be a common treatment, but doctors have prescribed it less often in recent years, as concerns of negative side effects increased.
Endometriosis is a chronic condition where uterine tissue (endometrium) grows in areas outside the uterus. This can cause extreme pain, especially around menstruation and during sex. Other symptoms include infertility, chronic fatigue, and painful urination or bowel movements during menstruation. In addition, many women with endometriosis also have allergies, frequent yeast infections, or sensitivity to certain chemicals.
Morning sickness is a common pregnancy symptom that includes nausea and occasional vomiting. Despite its name, morning sickness can occur at any time of day. The exact reason for this condition isn't clear, although most believe it results from hormone changes affecting muscle contraction and relaxation in the stomach and intestines. Another theory suggests morning sickness is caused by an abundance of intestinal bacteria in pregnant woman.
OBGYNs can prescribe or perform the following types of birth control:
  • Contraceptive pills
  • Birth control shots
  • Implants
  • Diaphragms
  • Vaginal rings
  • Cervical caps
  • Intrauterine devices
  • Tubal ligation
  • Hysterectomies
Women do not need to see an OBGYN to obtain over-the-counter forms of birth control such as male condoms, female condoms, or sponges.
