Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
I cannot give this business a true rating on service because they could not service me. Web site calls out 'Emergency Service 24/7' in a couple of places. I found a leak in my home and stopped the leak by turning off the water to the entire house. Called for emergency service before 10am and was told next available appointment was NEXT day between 9am and noon. Called another service and was put on a standby list with promise to be seen same day.

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
My plumbing tech, Ed, was very professional and fixed the problem efficiently. Compared to other plumbers in DE I would recommend Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and I would ask for Ed again for my next plumbing problem. I have to admit the last plumber who first came to fix my faucet in May, 2013 did not have the correct parts and did not do a good job. Thankfully, I found you guys.

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
I spent the better part of 2 days with a local plumber trying to clear a clog. Sean McDonough from Benjamin Franklin plumbing cleared the main sewer drain in less time then a trip to the local Home Depot & at the advertised price. I was also pleasantly surprised that they arrived right on time and wore booties in the house.

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
Billy called in advance to let me know his ETA. He was prompt and efficient. He fixed our hose bibb quickly and was a pleasure to work with. Happy to have had him do our work. He even suggested a solution for a couple other issues we normally run into. We'll be sure to call Billy when we're ready to get that work done

Tips & Advices
  • Are you licensed and registered?
  • Are you insured and bonded?
  • How many years have you been in business?
  • What, if any, professional associations do you belong to?
  • May I have a list of references?
  • Do you offer a written warranty for your work?
  • Will I need a permit for this work?
It is important to have a written warranty for any work or repairs done to the plumbing in your house, especially if it is a major repair. Look for a professional  who is willing to  stand by his or her work.
Before you hire a plumber, contact their past customers if you're able to. These people can be a wealth of information if you ask them the right questions. Pose the following queries to these former patrons when you get the chance:
  • Were you pleased with the work done?
  • Was the project completed on time?
  • Did the plumber give you a written warranty and guarantee his or her work?
  • Were there any unexpected costs that arose?
  • Would you hire this plumber again? If not, why?
A permit provides added assurance that the work is done correctly. Having this in place means an inspector will check the work your contractor or plumber does to ensure he or she did the job correctly. If you plan on putting your house or commercial building on the market, a real estate agent and prospective buyers will want to check any large work you did to make sure it was done properly.
A trustworthy plumber will have both commercial liability insurance as well as be bonded. The insurance and the bond protects the plumber from paying for any damages made to your house out of pocket. Having professionals that carry both of these policies can protect all of you from any mishaps that could occur while they work on your building.
