Animal Hospital At Auburn Hills
Dr. Stamps and the Staff at Animal Hospital at Auburn Hill are concerned about the well being of the pets as well as the owners. They treat their pets like family and extend the same care and concern to all who walk through the doors. We started seeing Dr. Stamps with our first dog Daisy and continued when we got our second dog Murphy. He was very patient with our million questions and spoke in a way that we could understand, without talking down to us. We always appreciated being part of the conversations and treatment options. Comparing our services with friends who went to other vet offices, we paid about average around town for service, but received the best quality of care. The staff was very attentive to our busy lives, willing to squeeze us in whenever we could. Everytime we called for a question or appointment, the staff knew who we were and who our dogs were without having to ask. The service we received was very personalized, from the reminder mailings, the report cards on each visit, to the follow up phone call the next day. With Dr. Stamps and his staff, we felt like part of the family. We recently moved out of state, and I was sad to have to leave such a warm and caring place. Our pets were well taken care of and I'm not sure we will be able to find the care and service we received at Animal Hospital at Auburn Hill. We highly recommend Dr. Stamps for anyone in the Wichita area.

Indian Hills Animal Clinics
I am shocked that someone had a bad experience at Indian Hills Animal Clinic. We have been bringing our pets there for the last 5 years and have never had a bad experience. The receptionist Casey greets us by name and will even help answer our questions when we call in. We've seen Dr. Hicks, Dr. Hill and most recently Dr. Meyer and we've been impressed. I have always been given an estimate prior to anything being done and been able to approve or ask to wait on things. They never make me feel bad if I can't afford something at the time. In fact, they encourage splitting up the care into multiple visits to help us. We have 3 cats and 4 dogs and they know each and every one. They take care of them when we go on vacations and even sent us a picture during Christmas break. The clinic is always clean and fresh smelling and it's just what you want when you go to an animal hospital. It doesn't smell like urine or feces like other clinics. I could go on and on about Indian Hills Animal Clinic, but I think everyone should try them out for themselves. It's definitely worth any cost or drive. I want the best for my pets and they give it. Thank you, everyone. You will forever be the place I take my pets.

Arapahoe Veterinary Clinic
Just tried to take my cat to the vet who says they are open until 6 online, but at the office, the door says they close 5:30. I got there at 5:40, they were all standing at the counter. My cat has an abscess on his leg and he cannot walk at all. His leg is swollen 3-4x its normal size. I pounded on the door and they all acted like they weren't there. Finally they opened it, got one of the vets, and the vet said it wasn't an emergency, it was an abscess, he didn't know if it was broken until he looked at it and it could wait until tomorrow. He opens at 7:30. WTF? You're a animal doctor, you're literally right here, and you closed 5-10 minutes ago. Help my cat. You can see he's not doing well and is in tons of pain. How can he go home and sleep knowing that he sent a patient home meowing in pain? He can't be bothered to help my cat for 5 minutes? Go ahead. Take your animal and see Dr Mahoney. He'll treat and street your animal as long as it is convenient for him. I do have to say that Dr Skaags is a great vet. He takes time, asks questions, great bedside manner and tries to make a connection with the animal. 1 star for Dr Mahoney5 stars for Dr Skaags

Indian Hills Animal Clinics
Today was our first visit to Indian Hills Animal Clinic, as we had to put our ailing, 15 year-old Brittany to sleep. He had failed terribly in the last 2 or 3 days and we knew it was time - past time, really - but it was so hard to make the decision to say goodbye to our dear, loving companion and friend. Our regular vet couldn't see Dash soon enough, but we couldn't bear to see him suffer any longer. I am so glad we took a chance and called IHAC. We could not have asked for kinder and more sensitive treatment to dear, old Dash, and to ourselves. I wish we had gotten everyone's names, but I guess we were too upset to think of that right then... But, we'll be back, I guarantee it, with our other Brittany. As for cost, IHAC charged us considerably less than our regular vet clinic quoted us, for the same services. Actually, they offered more services than our old vet clinic.Thank you, IHAC staff, for your kindness, patience, and understanding of grieving family members.

Animal Health Center of Wichita
I have never had issues with this vet. She's always been very kind and considerate of me and the fact that I have limited income. She treats my dog with respect and has never blinked an eye when he needs treatment. She gave me options on how best to tend to his chronic ear infections and made sure to give options I could afford for his treatment... including seeing for follow ups for no charge. I suggest this vet fully. I've been to some vets who didn't care, only told me the charges and didn't care about things otherwise. This has never happened at Animal Health Center of Wichita. I'd say one of the commenters didn't share the whole story, and the second was a mourning pet mommy more than anything.

Arapahoe Veterinary Clinic
I love this clinic. It is close to my house and open on Saturday. I have been going here for years. When I had to let my kitty go(Euthanize), they were very kind to me, I was very upset. Two days later I received a card signed by all in this clinic and I was touched by their concern for my heart. He gets to business, you never wait long. The staff is always caring and they work well together. I really appreciate being able to go right in, no appointment and whatever the problem is, He fixes them right up and we are right back home:)Thank you Dr Mahoney and Staff, you have always helped me in "My critters time of need". Bless you !

Wingert Animal Hospital
My oldest cat had developed a gum infection which made it difficult for him to eat. My husband and I took him and we were seen by Dr. Richards and she ordered a hydrocortisone shot and antibiotics. He's been on the antibiotics for about a week and he's acting more like a kitten than our youngest cat does. Dr. Richards and the staff are all very nice, knowledgeable, and compassionate, and their fees are EXTREMELY reasonable. We have been looking for a veterinary clinic to call home, and we found it with Wingert Animal Hospital.

Pet Haven Veterinary Clinic
Our doberman puppy had an injury to her right front flexor tendon and was cared for by our regular vet. Over the weekend her toes swelled up so badly that I could not get into the wrap to cut it off. I took her to this clinic after 5:00pm for treatment that was quick, efficient, kind and no more expensive than a regular veterinary service. It eases my mind knowing that this kind group of people is available to help in our vet's off hours.

Indian Hills Animal Clinics
We moved to Riverside area a year and a half ago and was looking for a vet for our 3 small dogs. The have been great to work with. Just the other day our youngest dog got through a hole in our fence and was attacked by a larger dog. I rushed him to Indian Hills clinic. The were able to see him right away. Had surgery the same day, and was home the same night. These people are fantastic to work with!! My hat's off to them!!

Wingert Animal Hospital
Very good people. Everyone in the office treats you like family, not just a patient/customer. My wife and I have 4 cats, that are as dear to us as our kids are. All 4, have had all their vet needs taken care of through Wingert Vet. Our oldest, is having dental work done on 6/9/15. I will also be speaking to them about chipping him, and then the others. I would not even consider taking them anywhere else.
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
