13.5 years after my Felony DWI conviction I am still subject to institutional discrimination. I was just told that my non-violent felony is an automatic reason for me to be unable to rent a property by Terri P. at Pegasus Property Management.I owned two homes since this conviction, I have paid taxes every year, I have obtained an Associates Degree, A Bachelor's Degree, and working on my Masters Degree. I am also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Terri P. assured me that the owner would not want to speak to me, hear my story and perhaps give me an opportunity to be a renter of his property. Terri P. has exclusively been given the authority to judge a human being and their worth in the world. I was unaware that any human being was bestowed with this type of power. It is this type of discrimination that causes serious issues for ex-offenders like myself who have completely rehabilitated themselves and are functioning and successful members of society. You can be assured that I will continue my incessant battle against these highly discriminatory practices. This is the reason my thesis is titled, The Effects of Institutional Discrimination on the Successful Reentry of Ex-Offenders.

I am a property owner of fourplex's, duplex's and houses and have been with Pegasus for 25 years in August of this year. I have found them to be honest, sincere, timely and a great company to work with over the years. I also find them to be the same with all my tenants. I have had only 3 tenants over these years phone me to object to Pegasus handling of their account, I found in all three complaints that Pegasus decisions were honest and justified. If I had to guess, I would say that there is no better Property Management Company in all of Houston.I also own a Condo in a Condo Association that Pegasus Manages. I have also been a Board Member of the Association. Again in that regard I would have to say they have made the complex an enjoyable place to live (part time). I reside mainly in California so you could call me a partly absentee owner of my rental property. Again I would highly recommend them to absentee owners.Dave Coughlin
