Munk's Motors & Vintage Munks
Mixed review. They obviously know their stuff. They fixed my vehicle and it work great. You could save money and cut the cost by at least half by purchasing the parts yourself and having the local mechanic do it, but you're paying for the experience and done right, so it sucks my toal bill was $2,000 for wheel bearings, tie rods, drag link, sterring tightening/coupler, and brakes, but it is what it is.The negatives and what I'd actually rate a 3.5 to 4.....is that they are a little bit perfectionists and so will give you a long laundry list of items to fix which basicaly encompasses rebuilding the entie vehicle and could cost ya $10,000 if yo u did everything. I wish they would just focus on the "A" items that need to be done NOW and/or are safety issues. Also, there's too many people to talk to. In the end, I focused and worked with one, but initally, I was getting passed around between George, Allan, and Chris and maybe more people!Likewise, they overbook, so we "arranged" for be to bring it in one a weekend and they'd at least check it out and test ride it on Monday. The week when by and nothing until middle of the second week! They finally didn't even start to work on it until the 3rd week and when it was finally finished (at least the work that they did)! Soo, even though it was pre-arranged to bring it in when it was my turn, even though they had parts in-stock, it took a full 3 weeks to the day to get my vehicle and this wasn't even like engine work or a body.In the end, I would tend to use them and for major work and stuff you might not want to deal with....tie rods, CV joint, engine/trans, etc., but work you can do....wiring, body, brakes, etc....I'd just get the part and do it myself, save money, and have my vehicle ready to roll in the same day.

Steve's European Automotive, Inc.
I've been going to Steve's European Auto for many years. Dealing with them is always a pleasant experience! Whether you are an avid car enthusiast or not. You will always leave SEA with the understanding of your cars problems & repairs. Jordan is outstanding when it comes to keeping you posted and communicating with you on your vehicles progress. You will ALWAYS get a phone call from him regarding your service. Jordan will do everything in is power to "make things right".I never leave SEA without being 100% satisfied. Thanks to Jordan, Steve, Jim, Shawn, & anyone else I am forgetting!!Great, Honest service is very hard to find these days.

Transmission Authority
I am extremely grateful to know Jason and Chuck at Transmission Authority. I have five cars in my immediate family, all older vehicles, and several relatives and friends that have used them upon my suggestion. I cannot recommend anyone higher than these folks. Several major transmission rebuilds were done for me that were better, completed faster and at a lower cost than work done elsewhere and I have been driving for over my forty years. These men are the most caring and honest auto repair folks I have ever met and I recommend them with confidence to everyone seeking a quality service shop and a fair price. Better still, they have done a tremendous job with a wide variety of non-transmission repairs brought to them. I only pray for one thing, that they continue to prosper and stay in business for many many years to come. Thank you to Jason & Chuck from us all!!

S & S Performance & Repair
I live right near s&s but always thought they were a specialty shop but I found them online and they do all types of auto repair. The owner Shaun is very honest and doesnt want to do unneeded work. We brought in an estimate from belle tire for my sons car which needed power steering pump replaced. belle tire also insisted he needed a rack and pinion done and gave an estimate which was hard to understand for 1900 and Shaun pointed out they forgot to add 375 for labor on it. He suggested doing the power steering pump first which was smart then to check for leaks after since there was so muck fluid from the bad pump you couldnt really tell if the rack was bad. His price was way less and the estimate he gave in case the rack is bad was too. Shaun is honest does good fast wirk and doesnt try to do unnecessary work. We will definately keep going there!

Munk's Motors & Vintage Munks
This is the best repair shop I've seen in 30 years! These guys could write a book on great customer service. I've been in the service industry my whole career and, if I built a repair shop, it would look just like this. I've spent a lot of money at Munks and have not felt like any of it was unnecessary or even a questionable expense. From the owner, Chris, to the front office team, George, Alex, & Kim, to the mechanics Rick, Dan, John, Larry and the rest, I've gotten nothing but honest, friendly advice. They excell in looking for low-cost alternatives and have even suggested that I do some of the work myself to save money! WTF? They have even told me HOW to do the work. They even offer free clinics on taking care of your car. Who does this these days???

Metro Towing
I locked myself out of my company car this past week. Its a new car for me so I hadn't memorized the key code access yet. So I called my fleet service provider and they told me it was going to be a 60-90 min wait to get it unlocked from whatever tow company they use. I called Metro Towing direct instead and from the time that I called to the time they unlocked my car only 25 minutes had gone by. I made it to work on time and I still was able to submit my receipt for reimbursement to my company vehicles fleet provider. This is the second time Ive used them (once for a tow provided by the dealer and once for this unlock). Nothing but positive experiences!

Speedy Auto Service
I can not say enough good things about Bill and Dean at the Speedy 3484 Highland Rd, Waterford Twp, MI 48328. I was desperate to get my car going and tried have a friend install a new starter in my car after they diagnosed it. Well the car didn't work after he installed it ,turned out the new starter was bad and my friend didn't install it correctly. Without any hesitation first thing in the morning Bill was able to get a brand new upgraded starter delivered, and they went to work and helped me out. I will NEVER go anywhere else to get my car fixed. If you need people you can trust THIS Speedy is the place for you. Incredible service... incredible people.

Speedy Auto Service
My mom's car broke down on Sunday and the manager Bill helped fix her car even though they were closed. Since they were closed, he didn't charge her a thing! I called up today to offer to pay for the service and they said it's what they do for their customers! Luckily Bill had been in the store working on a project that day. No one else in the area was open and she was stranded. If you are in the area and need car repair I suggest going to people who actually care!

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.

Just a moment...
