5 DIAMONDS for the CAPITAL GRILLE! Was a regular here from about 95-04' till I moved to FL. Have a stack of receipts from here an inch thick! AWSOME & SUPERB dining and waitstaff. Georgeous mahogany decor. Fantastic wine storage room. Awsome aged steaks. Try their house Martini, the STOLI-DOLI. Valet parking or 2 blocks from the Metro. The only kids I have seen in here were well behaved Senators children. Proper attire please! Best calamari anywhere! Sam's mashed potatoes too! I often eat at the newly opened JAX FL location at St Johns Town Center. Tysons Corner on Beltway in DC too. see their website.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had was at Komi. I had called 3 weeks in advance to make a reservation to celebrate my cousin's graduation, however, they were completely booked. I didn't realize you have to call exactly one month in advance to land a reservation or else cross your fingers that you'll get off the waitlist. I ended up putting my name on the waitlist and SQUEALED when they called to tell me that a table opened up for 7pm the next evening. \r \r The setting was very intimate as there were no more than 25 diners at a time and the decor was pretty simple. Some diners were dressed casually in jeans while other couples were dressed to the nines. There is only one menu consisting of about 10 or so small plates, a pasta dish, main course, a cheese course, and 3 or 4 dessert courses. \r \r Much to my delight, the beginning of the meal was very seafoodie (excuse my lack for a better word). Memorable small plates were the sashimi trio, a freshly warm bite-sized brioche bun topped with creme fraiche and salmon caviar, pork belly skewers, and grilled octupus, which had a great char. The pasta dish wasn't mindblowing but the noodles did taste very fresh. The main dish was a huge plate of goat to share with warm pita and a side of condiments. I had never had goat before but was pleasantly surprised at how tender and flavorful it was. By this point we were stuffed but of course we had to make room for dessert. The dessert that stood out was the deconstructed ""frozen baklava"" that came with walnut ice cream. \r \r The service was excellent. We must have had about 6 or 7 different servers who were very friendly and knowledgeable about the courses. At $125 per person, Komi is by no means a cheap eat, but it is a ""value"" for all the food you get compared to other fancy tasting rooms in the area. This is the place to go if you have a special occasion, want an intimate dinner, or simply just love food.

Colorful spray painted walls. Unique designs. Lightening bolts. Find the little skull in the wall. Crystal Chandelier, luxurious red faux high-backed booths, handmade tables and chairs with wooden silver spikes. Beautiful wall sconces with mood candles on fireplace. Great green back room. Good for privacy or for a group lunch meeting. Comfy seats. Fun atmosphere. Large beer list. Great burgers. Personable staff. A great change for Georgetown. A must see restaurant when in Georgetown.

Food: Classic southern. Tasty, but could use a wee bit more salt. (personal opinion). Menu choices varied and well thought out. Service: Relaxed, unpretentious. Service staff very helpful with wine paring, polite and respectful. Parking: Valet service.

When I have friends in town or who have just moved to town, I always take them to Open City. It never disappoints because the food is good--breakfast all day, a great grilled cheese, good french fries and yummy desserts. There is lots of indoor and outdoor seating, including a heated and enclosed porch area. The wait can be long for weekend brunch (usually at least 45 minutes at peak brunch hours), but its always worth it.

Mama Ayesha's is a tucked away Middle Eastern delight. The restaurant has been at this location since 1960 and was run by ""Mama Ayesha,"" who made home-cooked middle eastern dishes in the district for decades. From the outside, you wouldn't suspect how gorgeous the interior is, but once inside you cannot help but be taken aback by the grand feel of its decor and the warmth of its ambiance. Guys, this is a great date place!

I went to Meze the other night for dinner with my boyfriend. He wanted to take me here because 1. I love Turkish food 2. it is one of his fave spots. I was not disappointed at all and I now understand why he loves this place so much! We ordered a bunch of "tapas style" dishes that were very yummy. My personal favorites were the lamb and the muharmara (not sure how to spell this). We also ordered dessert and it was AMAZING! Our server was also very attentive and super friendly. I loved the atmosphere (great for a date spot). Overall, I will be back often and will definitely have to try one of the famous mojitos my BF always raves about :)

Went here with friends for a late dinner and drinks, and just about everything that could go wrong, did. Starting with bartenders who were absolutly useless--we had to use our iphone to look up recipes for cocktails for them. They had no drink menus, and then when we asked them what they suggested, the answer was ""dunno, what do you want?"" Dinner though was even worse, and 2 out of 3 meals were practically inedible. The broccoli was sour, and had to be picked out. Really disgusting. Waitress forgot one of our drinks, it was just an overall bad experience. Lots of Attitude for terrible food and terrible options. Maybe it was just a fluke, but I will not go back again.

I've been going to the Sterling Optical on M Street, NW for a couple of years. The reason I keep going back when I have a couple of other eyeglass chains closer to me? Because of Eric and Donna, the core team there. They made a great impression on me the first time I went there, and they always give me great service. I get both my glasses and my contacts there, and I just wouldn't go anywhere else. They are friendly, full of helpful info, give me great prices and I actually enjoy my time in their store. I highly recommend the M St. store because, aside from getting your glasses and/or contacts, you get two wonderfully attentive people who make sure you are fully satisified. 5 stars!

21.The Chesapeake Room
501 8th St SE
I was definitely did not disappoint was the food. While the shrimp and grits I ordered did not resemble the traditional preparation of the dish, the edition presented at The Chesapeake Room was incredible. The grits were encapsulated in a fried bedding that rested atop plump shrimp drenched in a satisfyingly complex sauce consisting of spicy accents to an alcohol based tomato sauce. The house cured bacon was also fantastic. I am not exactly sure how they prepared the bacon, but suffice it to say that they made bacon taste even better than usual. If the brunch menu was a simpler, more watered down version of the dinner menu (as I would expect), I'm thinking that the kitchen might bottle up greatness in the evening hours. The Chesapeake Room is certainly an exceptional addition to the Barracks Row neighborhood. I expect to be a regular.

Nothing but wonderful things to say about this place! We have our company parties here every year and the waitstaff is always attentive. The food is excellent too! My favorite is the prime rib and most of the employees get the filet mignon. And the valet parking is great which is perfect since we're car people! My Audi has never gotten a scratch and the bill is always discounted

McCormick & Schmick's has some of the best seafood in the city in an upscale atmosphere. Eating a full meal here can get very expensive, very quickly. However, if you go during their amazingly cheap happy hour, you'll get to sample the menu and still have Metro fare home. The happy hour lasts from 3:30-7 and 10-11 on Monday—Thursday, and 3:30-7 on Friday's. Apps start at $1.95 for munches like hummus and only go up to $4.95 for seafood apps like crab cake sliders and calamari. You can't beat that, especially considering that this restaurant is one of DC's best.

The Tabard Inn is one of my favorite spots for a drink with friends. It's perfect all year round. The inside with its Persian rugs, leather sofas and chairs and fireplaces feels like a well-appointed, well-loved living room. Couches arranged to face one another make great conversation spots to catch up. I wouldn't try bringing a group of more than 6-8, since it is an older rowhouse and space is tight, but it's great for small groups. The cheese plate and a few glasses of wine are just right. The outside patio's parachute shade is one of my favorite quaint DC restaurant details, bar none. I would go there purely for the pleasure of sitting in their garden patio for a few hours. That and, of course, the doughnuts.

I haven't been there lately (note to self...get there again asap), but I used to go there often and it was really good. I know my Ethiopian food pretty thoroughly, and it's not easy to get better than this. Whether it's really authentic is another question; Ethiopian meat just tastes different, there's no way to compensate for that here. Aside from that, this was great. Nice people, too.
