When I first walked in the door, I was struck by the clean gorgeousness of the architectural features of this über-clean Upper Manhattan-flat-style interior with a brick accent wall; black leather couch; knotty hardwood floors; delicate tiny halogen lights in the open industrial ceiling; side-by-side curved silver shelves so painstakingly arranged with Paul Mitchell products and Gold Canyon candles; elongated mirrors sandwiching vases of bamboo shoots; gorgeous, nicely dressed, smiling, friendly, conversational people (both customers and staff); the smell of a Pineapple Upside-Down Cake candle and fresh flowers, and the open, warm greeting by the very knowledgeable receptionist, Amanda Castanedo, whose devotion to the company, her employers, and her peers was readily evident -- and I wondered why, as a Vista resident, that I had not noticed this salon before. It dawned on me that its unassuming location and quiet exterior belies a gem underneath. The location is perfect for the ladies since it’s only a half-mile off of Highway 78, and is literally a stone’s throw from a tremendous sushi restaurant (the Japanese Café), a Starbucks, a Coldstone Creamery, a nail salon, and a 16-venue movie ‘metroplex.’ I could spend the entire day, and the contents of my wallet, on Main Street. I loved the salon’s “restaurant menu” of services that include “Appetizers” of artistic hair cutting; “Side Orders” of “Shiners,” which are clear shine topcoats; “The Color Bar” involving everything from a wide array of custom color services like “Guy-lites,” “Half-Pints,” “The Full Monty,” and “Tone the Goldschlager,” for “Bombshell Blondes,” and ‘Café Cocktails” like “Hold the Salt,” and color corrections for us brunettes; followed by a chaser of “Get Skinny” hair straightening options and a selection of “Smoothies” facial waxing and hair removal services. For “Dessert,” I could request a fancy “Up-Do,” “Blow Dry and Style,” or have one of their master artists work wonders with make-up.

I was searching for a nail salon near my work on yelp and, I found this salon. It had ok reviews and, I decided to give it a test before I made judgements. Well....yeah, it was not the best. I made an appointment so I would not have to wait and, I still had to wait for quite a while. Also, the nail ladies do not really engage in conversation. A salon is supposed to be for relaxation and, honestly? I left with a huge headache and, I feel as if it should not be like that. I tried talking to my nail lady but, she would just respond and then...nothing. They only talk with each other and they eat in front of you and idk but it just didnt seem very professional or relaxing. The actual nails were pretty good and at a pretty good price but, Ive definetely had them done nicer. So, overall? I guess its ok but i wouldnt recommend it to people.

If you feel like your not getting much for what you pay for a manicure and pedicure now days you MUST check out this salon. The staff is very friendly. I have gone 3 different times and each time not only were my expectations meet, but I felt like they really took their time and weren't trying to rush me out the door. If you live in the area you owe it to yourself to try this salon. You wont want to go anywhere else!

Hair By Esperanza
I finally found a woman who knows how to cut long hair, and for a VERY reasonable price. The receptionist, a very young and adorable young lady was very helpful in assisting me on how I wanted the back cut, straight, curved or layered. Taking one look at her hair, I went with the layered. I can not recommend this salon enough. Esperanza has a customer for life :)

Venus & Mars Beauty Salon
This place closed down, and left no forwarding address so I don't know where they went. I did enjoy going there when it was open :) plus, I still had store credit, which is a bummer since I would have used it if I had known they were shutting down their business! :(

Tips & Advices
Some pet groomers have viewing areas where owners can sit and watch their pets being treated. Most prevent owners from being in the same room as the pet, however, as the owner's presence might cause the pet to become too excited.
Pets that cannot interact with strangers do not make good professional grooming candidates. Sometimes medication can help, but some groomers don't take animals that have been sedated. If a pet becomes too unruly, a groomer may end the session entirely.
It's best to fully vaccinate pets before bringing them to their first grooming appointment. Dogs should receive the DA2PPC vaccine, which stands for canine distemper, canine andenovirus type 2, canine parvovirus, and parainfluenza. It's also a good idea to vaccinate dogs against Bordedatella (aka “kennel cough”). In fact, New York City requires dogs receive both DAPP and Bordetella shots. Cats, meanwhile, should get the FVRCP vaccine: feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus infection, and panleukopenia. In addition, all pets should be up to date on their rabies shots. Owners should wait at least 24 hours after getting their pet vaccinated before bringing it to the groomers.
Technically, there is no such thing as a pet that is too old for a professional groomer. In fact, older pets with joint or mobility issues often can't groom themselves and need someone else to clean them. However, pets that are blind, deaf, or have serious medical issues might not do well at a groomer, especially if the person is inexperienced. Owners should feel free to ask potential groomers about their understanding of elderly pet issues. Often, older pets will exhibit puppy-like behavior and squirm or yelp during grooming. Alternatively, they might not be able to stand for long periods of time. As such, grooming an older pet usually takes more time than grooming a young one.
Puppies and kittens should be at least 10 weeks old before their first professional grooming session. They should be used to being gently handled by strangers and comfortable being separated from their owners for a few hours at a time.
