Rafani-Steele Mary Attorney at Law
I gave her a retainer fee of $500 few years ago cuz she wanted the money before she listend to my case she said it might cost $2000 plus as it moves along i didnt feel confident with her an she didnt seem knowledgeable cuz she didnt understand questions i asked her so i just said i dont want to use her afteral and wanted my money back she said no and that i was dumb for just handing her the money and that this is a lesson for me, so i lost money and she didnt do anything for me so i would be careful with this person she knows she will get your money win or lose and wont give it back she might not even try to help u like she did me.

Rafani-Steele Mary Attorney at Law
It was such a difficult time having to find legal representation coupled with all the anxiety and stress of court. Finding Mary Steele out of the yellow pages seemed so random at the time however, looking back it was more like a miracle. Mary was a blessing and I hope this recommendation helps someone who finds them self in need of a family attorney.Mary Steele was fair, firm and gave sound advice. Her ability to make the legal process and jargon easy to understand was a huge benefit for me. She responded quickly to my calls, was patient with my lack of legal knowledge, and thorough. Most important was the wisdom Mary demonstrated throughout the entire process. This is not only a recommendation but a "thank you" to Mary Steele for the amazing advice and care I received. Best luck to anyone who faces family court, and do yourself a favor and call Mary. You will be in good hands with Ms. Steele.

Hatherley Law
Totally love this professional, knowledgeable, and a gentleman. Something that is lacking in this world...who would have thought I'd find him in Visalia. Not only did he give me back my boys and my life...he gave me my self respect with his advice and guidance. You'd be a damn fool to not trust in his knowledge of the law. I would hire him 10 times over...God bless you Dale and your staff.

Hatherley Law
I have been a client of Michael Hatherley, who is one of the attorneys in this office. He is not only extremely organized, articulate, KNOWLEDGEABLE and very well versed in the family law arena, he is as ethical, honest and trustworthy as they come. If you are looking for a mediocre attorney, this is not the one for you. However, if you are looking for someone who is not only serious about his job, but extraordinarily passionate about giving every one of his clients top notch service, with results to show for it, then this IS the attorney you want representing you. When it comes to family law, every single case is going to be different from the next, but Mr. Hatherley is familiar with it all. Often times, if you have questions or concerns, you don't even have to speak directly to him, since he has such an amazing office staff supporting him, who are nothing less than perfection at it's best! I could go on and on about Mr. Hatherley and his office staff and their level of professionalism, along with their expertise, both in and out of the courtroom. When it comes to family law matters, I would trust him and his advice and recommendations without a shadow of a doubt! Like I said, this is a top notch attorney and I have yet to find anyone who has hired him, who would disagree! If you are reading this in search of an attorney, I hope this helps you to make a well-educated decision, since many times, our children are the ones who suffer, if we don't find the best of the best representation! Good luck to all of you!
Tips & Advices
When it comes time to choose a lawyer, you should start by searching close to home. If you do have attorneys you are familiar with, ask who they believe would be best for you. After going through personal references - especially from individuals who had similar needs - you should broaden your search through public information resources. You can call your area's attorney referral service or check legal organizations like Martindale-Hubbell. There are other resources available online, such as You can check websites for client reviews and other third-party forms of approval.
If you sign documents and you come across a word you don't recognize, or you need help to navigate important employment or real estate paperwork. Also, during times when personal matters intersect with legal proceedings, you might need to have an advocate to prevent your emotions from getting in the way. If you've been accused of a crime or are in a terrible financial situation, you can find an attorney who will work with what you have available.
When you hire a lawyer, you're agreeing to work with someone over a certain period of time. The more forthcoming the lawyer appears to be with individual needs, the better.
  • You need to ask questions about how the attorney will communicate with you and what responsibilities you hold in the relationship.
  • The attorney should let you know the best channel for quick communication and you need to inform him or her when you want updates.
  • You should also ask questions to get to know the attorney as an individual in order to ensure this is a person you can trust. Ask about their legal philosophy and how he or she views the lawyer/client relationship. Ask as how to keep fees down or what daily disruptions you should expect from a long legal battle.
You need to ask about every possible fee that will come up when working with an attorney. You should request a list of all costs in advance so you won't be surprised by additional expenses like overhead. Also determine exactly when you will start being billed. You want to inspect paperwork carefully. If the attorney charges you for his or her experience, you need to make sure he or she will perform tasks personally and not hand it off to an assistant. Find out if the attorney has a flat fee or charges by the hour. Many civil lawyers work on contingency. Make inquiries about how the lawyer plans to provide service for your money and what you can do if you start to feel unsatisfied with his or her performance.
You can ask how many similar cases they have handled and if they have special skills or training that applies specifically to your needs. Lawyers can't mention clients by name, but you should ask for basic details about identical past cases. You should check their office for the appropriate certifications and diplomas. You can also ask how long he or she has practiced law and request information that demonstrates the practice's success. Look for precise details such as percentage of cases settled out of court.
