Custom Home Improvement & Repairs of Hampton Roads
I recently found myself in a very uncomfortable position of identifying an appropriate business to provide major repairs to my home. After 47 years of marriage with a husband who handled all such issues, I now had these responsibilities fully in my lap. It was a pleasure to work with a such a professional group of people who were understanding, polite, timely and ethical in their dealings. I was truly impressed with the professionalism of the young man, Chris, who installed the new gutter system. He was dynamic in performing his job. He understands customer relations and represents your company as if it is his own !!!Lye and Mark thank you for putting together such an expert team. My few concerns were addressed immediately.

Hometown Remodeling
The original builder of our home did a horrible job installing our windows. They leaked both water and air. Hometown replaced every window in our home. They repaired and added protection against future leaks. Their crews did such a great job, we called them again to update our master bath. Can't say enough about Richard, Robert, staff, & crew.

Virginia Beach residents please take a look at the pictures at the work Andy Kearns of TreyAiden Pressure Washing Service did for us. We are extremely disappointed in his work and he has failed to return numerous messages about our concerns or money that he overcharged us as well. Check the Next Door app. for more detail. Please be cautious if you hire him for a fence job.

These men did a fantastic job on my church. I will be using them for all future services. I rarely take the time to do a review, but in this case it was a must.

I purchased a condo from him in 2006 in the Chic's Beach area. I have three hanging decks that were not properly installed. This has caused a lot of leaks in our home. Our air conditioner was not installed correctly, vents, flashing around decks and windows were not installed, the lining under siding and tie backs not properly installed. His homes are eye appealing but poorly build. It will take a lot of money to repair our home. I would never buy from this builder again.

Custom Home Imprvmt & Repairs
Found these guys at the annual home improvement show at the convention center. Of course the venue is packed with companies trying to gain you business. There was just something about the way they presented their produce with an example of the work they do present at the show that made us know they were the right crew for us. We wanted to do our new siding in conjunction with an addition so we had to spend some time to save enough money. They were very patient with us with no high pressure sales pitch of any type. Once the work began we couldn't be more pleased with the time taken for fit and finish of the trim and siding. The crew was always very polite and respectful to any questions we had. Some members of the crew that were doing the addition pulled me aside to point out the outstanding work they were doing. Just wish that the addition crew was as good as Custom Home Improvements.

I am writing to you "Custom Home Improvement" in Virginia Beach, Virginia to thank you and to let others know about your great company and service. From the front office, there is Tim and Sales Manager, Bill.  Of course, the true "hands on" working team that consisted of 1 very tuff young woman and 4 men.  (Do you like the way I mentioned that very tuff woman.)  Lastly, Garcia, Doc and Tim were there today making sure that everything turned out well. Thank you, and I am looking forward to working with this "winning team" and "MY OLD HOUSE" renovations.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. SADLY THE WORK THEY PREFORMED WAS WORSE THAN WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE MYSELF IF I ONLY HAD THE TIME. YET THEY COST ME MORE TIME BEING I HAD TO DO HALF OF THE WORK MYSELF, BOBBY?MAIN GUY SAT IN HIS TRUCK, SUPPOSEDLY OVERSEEING. THE DRYWALL WAS SCABBED IN BEING THE PERSON CUTTING IT HAD NO HELP & COULD NOT MEASURE CORRECTLY. THEY COST ME MATERIAL WHICH WAS CUT WRONG. JUST THINK OF WHAT THEY WOULD DO IF THEY WERE PROVIDING MATERIAL. THE WORST IS I HAD TO PULL UP MY VINYL FLOOR WHICH THEY SET BECAUSE THEY NEGLECTED TO SWEEP AND CHECK ALL NAILS WHICH WERE TOO BIG TO BE USED IN FIRST PLACE! A NAIL HAD ALREADY CUT THRU THE BACK OF THE VINYL, THERE WAS STILL PLASTIC & LOTS OF LITTLE PIECES OF WOOD FROM THE NAILS GOING THRU. PLUS IT WAS NO GLUE FLOOR AND THEY USED GLUE WHICH I HAD TO CLEAN OFF. THEY DIDN'T DESERVE WHAT THEY WERE PAID. OF COURSE NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK REGARDING MY PROBLEMS WITH THE FLOOR.. GO FIGURE. SAD YOU CANNOT TRUST ANYONE ..
Tips & Advices
Basic screen-door fixes can be pretty cheap, and most can be DIY fixes. Replacing a door closer can cost less than $15. Door hinges and latches are usually less than $10, unless you are getting really fancy. You’ll probably only need a basic screwdriver and possibly some screws or shims. Replacing the mesh can be more difficult, so weigh the value of mesh replacement vs. full door replacement when considering the actual screen replacement.
Screen door installation, for a standard swinging door (not a sliding screen), is relatively inexpensive. Depending on your area, expect to pay $50-$100 for installation costs. The doors themselves are usually inexpensive and can be as low as $40 (beware of the quality). If you are handy around the house, installing a screen door can be a great DIY opportunity.
A screen-door closer, or a pneumatic cylinder, is a device connecting the screen door to the door jamb. It is usually located at the top of the door and is designed to close the screen door automatically after opening. They can be easily adjusted to quicken or slow the door’s closing speed.
To stop a screen door from slamming shut, adjust the door closer, usually located at the top of the door. There is a cylinder inside the door closer that controls how fast or slow the door closes, and it is usually adjustable with a simple screw driver. If adjusting makes no difference, the door closer might be faulty and need replacing – a low-cost DIY project that requires minimal time and tools.
The most common cause of a sagging screen door is loose or worn hinge screws that attach the screen to the door frame. If they are loose, you can tighten them yourself. A loose latch between the door and the door frame is also a common cause of sagging. Again, check the screws and tighten them up if they’re loose.
