Southside Moving & Storage
We recently used Southside Moving and Storage to move us into our first house, and they did a fantastic job!Since both my husband and I were crazy busy at work, we needed a moving company that could pack everything for us, move us, and unpack all of the boxes. Southside Moving and Storage packed up our entire townhouse starting at 7 a.m. on a Saturday, and had us completely moved into our new house by 3:30 p.m. They came back Sunday morning to unpack boxes and finished in less than 3 hours. That is crazy fast! When we moved to Houston it took us a week to pack everything up and who knows how long to unpack all of the boxes. The rates were super reasonable as well. We paid slightly less than $1000, and that included all the packing, moving, and unpacking, as well as all of the boxes, paper to wrap things, tape, etc. (you can provide your own boxes and such, but we opted not to). That was much less than we thought we would have to spend to get a full-service move!In addition to reasonable rates, both the women who packed and unpacked our boxes and the men who moved everything were super professional and on time, which is very rare for movers! In fact, we weren't supposed to actually be moved until the Sunday after the Saturday that our boxes were being packed, but they finished so early that they asked us if we just wanted them to move our stuff on Saturday since they had a truck available. How many times have you had movers who actually got you moved earlier than you expected? All in all, I was completely impressed with every aspect of the service provided by Southside Moving and Storage and would recommend them to anyone contemplating a move.

Atlantic Beach Movers
We've used Atlantic Beach Movers four times, now and because of those experiences, and being treated so well, I will continue to use them for everything!Initially, I used them to move us from one house to another house. Bill came out to look over our things and gave us a reasonable flat rate. The price was much better than other estimates I'd gotten so I decided to use them. The guys were very friendly and ready to work. Unfortunately, I hadn't correctly measured the doorways upstairs at the new house. After they had moved all of the furniture up there, we discovered that they couldn't get it through the doors so they had to move everything back downstairs again! They didn't complain at all. It was completely my fault, I had measured incorrectly and hadn't thought it through, but they were so patient with me, I never felt uncomfortable. We've used them on several occasions since, and they are always good-natured and pleasant to be around. One time we were using them, and it was taking a lot longer than we had thought it would, and it was 8pm on a Friday, and these are young guys, who probably have plans after work, but they were so great and helped us to reshuffle our furniture. And we had a company put in a chair lift for my in-laws, only it was too high and therefore too dangerous for them to use. Well, the guys helped us fix it! I couldn't believe it, I'm always going to use them! They are always very courteous, friendly and responsible. I would highly, highly recommend them to anybody!

Absolute Moving Co
This was the second move I made with my wife since we got married. This was her 6th move as a United Methodist Pastor. She is insistent that this was her best move ever! The crew was courteous and hard working. They seemed to have a very good attitude joking around with each other a bit and never a word of complaining about their work.I contacted 4 moving companies. One gave a price that was about half of this company but said they would come with one small truck and two or three workers. That one small truck wouldn't have held half of what we had to move. We had a previous experience where the movers moved about half and then drove off into the sunset leaving us to move the rest with a U-Haul. There was a large national moving chain that gave us a quote about double the quote we got from Absolute movers which put them out of the running not to mention the fact that they insisted the move could not be completed in one day. (Picked up and delivered the same day.) Absolute movers sent two trucks and 5 workers and did it all in one day. We got one other quote that was $60 less than Absolute. The owner of Absolute said he'd throw in 10 wardrobe boxes at no additional charge, so that was the deciding factor. In the end, everything was moved without one item being broken or damaged. The crew was professional, polite, and hard working. All went well. We would highly recommend Absolute movers!

Atlantic Beach Movers
I had to move just before X-mas and I really didn't have much time to do much with all of my X-mas parties I had to do ( I am A Dj). Well I called around and I had a company in mind. My mother-in-law told to check Atlantic Beach Movers out, so I did! I talked to a guy and he told me about the company and gave me a price. He also told me that they are part of the Loacl BBB and gave the # to call so I can check them out and other company. Well I am glad I did because the company I was going to go with had been kicked out of the BBB. Atlantic Beach movers has a great rating. Well I did move with Atlantic Beach Movers and they did a great job. No damages, nice people to work with, and a good price to boot. Tell your mom and dad when you need to move, maybe they will help you!

Southside Moving & Storage
Today I had the best experience with moving that I could ever wish for. It started a couple of weeks ago with me contacting FlatRate for a quote. Marcus was very informative and easy to work with. The quote was reasonable, and much better than those other companies quotes that were by the hour, with no not-to-exceed price. My move completed by the team of Jim, Chris and Gilbert. They were incredible, quick, careful and very easy to work with. I was thinking that today was going to be the most stressful day of this whole moving process, but they made it the easiest day possible. They provided a great (in fact, they exceeded my wildest expectations) moving experience. I don't think there is anything that they could have done to make it better. Thanks Southside

Blue Pete's Restaurant
Blue Pete's new owners have certainly set the stage for incredible dinning. This local favorite has undergone some major upgrades to include new kitchen, new heating/air, electrical, plumbing. The new pub bar with 12 taps is great. The wine bar in the Fox Den offers a cozy experience with the finest wines. There are several seating areas depending on number in the party and casual to dressy. The staff is the best and very knowledgeable in all areas, Attention to detail is a plus. Now for the food. Fresh vegetables and fruits from local farms are prepared to every one's liking. The fresh crab soup with lump is to die for. All breads and pastries are fresh up. The main courses are prepared to perfection. Again, details. What a wonderful experience for all.

Southside Moving & Storage
The BEST good customer service - Great Movers. "My girlfriends and I had our guy friends help us for our last move and we decided never again. Yeah it was free ( other than beer and pizza) but we paid for it with complaints and broken items. This time we knew we were going to have to pay, but we didn't know we were going to have it so easy.Southside Moving really took care of business for us. Everything that we owned was in one piece and not only did they not complain, they seemed happy to help us...and yes I know that we were paying them, but its hard to find good customer service anywhere in this city. I have decided for all of my girls that we will use Southside Moving from now on." They did a Great job!!!

Southside Moving & Storage
As you all know, moving can be a painful and fragile process. Choosing a mover always seems sketchy but Southside Moving and Storage made it simple and cheap. The guys showed up right on time. They got right to work and moved my 3 bedroom condo into another place in about 4 hours. It was amazing. Since I was paying them by the hour I fully expected them to be rock in' every last minute and they were. They were even extra polite and made me aware of every little crack on any piece they were about to move just to prove they were being honest about things. It was a nice touch. Next time I move...I have no doubt I am calling them back to move me.

Southside Moving & Storage
I hired Southside Moving and Storage because I wanted a reliable, organized, strong crew to do my large move, and that is what I experienced that day. I had 8 couches, 3 sets of dining room tables and chairs, several large dressers. They wrapped all of my property to protect it and packed it very neatly in the truck so that I wouldn’t have to rent a second truck which would be an extra expense. The day of the move was the last big snow storm. They shoveled my driveway and lightened the mood with good spirits even though it was a long difficult day. They were amazing, and I will be hiring them again for my next move.

Atlantic Beach Movers
They did a great and quick job moving us from Suffolk to Virginia beach. We have solid wood bedroom furniture and they had no issues with a two man crew getting it down our apartment stairs and up to the second floor in the new house. I can't imagine why people would complain and say they are slow, they are people and this is definitely not an easy job! They were professional and really reasonably priced. We were moving into base housing and the owner was accommodating to get the right staff there to be able to get on base. I will be using them again for any future moves and highly recommend them!
Tips & Advices
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers, wardrobes and chests before a move. Items always get knocked around a bit, and doors can fly open even if they’ve been taped. In fact, more often than not, movers will want to remove the drawers from a dresser--or disassemble the wardrobe to be more space-efficient.
Yes, it is customary to tip movers, but the amount varies widely. For full-service moves, a 5 percent tip is suggested, although, for extra service, some people go up to 10 percent . For small local movers, you can give each mover $10 for a few-hour job, or $20-$40 for jobs that take longer.
A bill of lading is the legal contract for the move. It provides a detailed receipt, in addition to a contract between the client and the mover. It authorizes the mover to transport the goods from one specific point to another, and it outlines the exact scope of services, with cost breakdown for those services. It also provides an itemized list of the inventory, and carrier liability protection for each declared item. Finally, it specifies the payment arrangement. Make sure to go over your itemized list extremely carefully before finalizing the paperwork--and get a copy of the full document. A good mover will go over everything on the bill of lading with the customer.
There are several items that moving companies will not move – those items will be listed on a document as “non-allowables.” These items typically fall in three categories: perishables, sentimental/personal items, and hazardous material. Perishables are food and plants. Sentimental/personal value is up to the client to decide, but usually includes jewelry, medical and dental records, personal paperwork, valuables and collectibles. Hazardous material is the tricky category, since it includes a lot of everyday items found in the garage, garden or kitchen. For example, cleaning liquids and pesticides both are considered non-allowable by many companies. Some go so far as to disallow nail polish and batteries.
A binding estimate means that the moving company cannot charge more than the stated amount, though they can lower the final bill if the scope of the job was smaller than expected. A non-binding moving estimate is more likely to wind up costing more than expected, since the movers can increase their rates for unforeseen variables like stairs, “long carry” and materials.
