Overall, FMP isn't too bad at all and the staff is wonderful but be careful if you see Dr. Ryan W. Ingram. Not only is he arrogant but he will do blood work that isn't needed, want to pretend to be your primary care provider by discussing and attempting to correct things you and your primary care doctor should be doing. And god forbid you tell him you don't wish to discuss those issues with him because he will kick you out of the FMP practice all together. It's sad be has to treat people like that.

WOW! Who are you people who give such bad reviews of this place? I have been coming here for over 11 years with none of these issues mentioned. All calls that I make are returned, all meds called in (if I've seen my doc recently) and the chairs in the waiting room have never been sticky or trash on the floor. Yes, sometimes they are SO busy you may be put on hold, but no one has EVER been rude to me over the phone. I have many health related issues and am managed very well. You know, if there are a few drops of urine on the seat, that is NOT the nursing or doctor staff with which to deal. They get very busy and the patients are their first priority. So, wipe off the drops yourself, wash your hands and just go. Then wipe off your own drops. This place is the bomb!!! I HATE that I have to move out of state and leave them all!

First Colonial
I would not recommend this business to anyone. I am very displeased with the service received from my doctor and office staff. It's bad enough that customers have to pay at each doctor's visit, whether it is 10 minutes or an hour long. I have spent so much money on co-pays and lab work, not to mention taking time off of work. My doctor always required office visits for medication check ups every 3 months and I would always have to come back for something else. Somehow blood work or a check up on something else was needed. I have been on the same medication for about 5 years and I was still required to come in that often. I would have approximately 4 -6 appointments per year. This was just absurd and I felt that most of my time spent at the office was unnecessary.I received an invoice in the mail from a random company regarding medical records. I found a new physician and they had to request a copy from First Colonial. So after no courtesy phone call or letter to give me a heads up of any charges that may be incurred, I just get an invoice in the mail. So after calling and leaving 4 messages, I finally get a call back after 3 weeks. I don't care if you are a medical facility or any other type of business, that is no way to treat your customers. Once I spoke with an actual person, no one was helpful or had any definite answers to give me. They explained that this is just how they do things. Evidentially, this practice does not have the capabilities to e-mail or fax copies of medical records to another doctor's office. If I had known I would have been charged a ridiculous amount, I would have gone to the office store myself. I was invoiced for paper and shipping. They need to get with the times and stop using another company for something this simple. I could have picked them up and delivered them right down the road myself, too. So now, I am upset and paying an invoice that makes no sense. I'm so glad my new doctors office doesn't charge for this or give me these kind of problems. After spending unnecessary time and money at their business, I have left this practice and I'm glad I don't have to deal with these issues.

This is by far the worst dentist ive ever been to. I walked in and the waiting area was old and dirty, there were stains on the floor and they had some church channel blaring. Te receptionist had a "ghetto" type of accent. They told me to be at least 15 minutes early, I was 30, and yet I still had to wait 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time because they girls were eating lunch. So why did I need to come early? That ended up being a 40 min wait time. Ive never had to do that. The hygienist must have JUST graduated because she tried to floss my teeth and did a terrible job, she couldn't even get in between my teeth and she missed about 8 on my lower jaw. She got floss stuck in one of my teeth and it took THREE people to take it out. Really? I floss my teeth quite often without any issues. When she polished them she only briefly touched the anterior and posterior portion of them, didn't bother getting any polish around my gum line or in between my teeth. When I asked questions about my x-rays she had no idea what was going on and didn't bother asking the doctor for help. DO NOT go here! You will be utterly disappointed in the care you receive.
Tips & Advices
An osteopathic physician practices a comprehensive form of medicine that takes a holistic approach to a person's health. Instead of specializing in one system or set of organs, an osteopathic specialist focuses on the health of the total body. This includes evaluating environmental factors that affect a person's well-being.
Many family doctors deliver babies, especially in rural areas without a nearby OB/GYN. However, most family doctors only deliver for low-risk pregnancies and do not perform cesarean sections.
Family nurse practitioners are highly educated nurses able to provide medical care individually or with the assistance of another professional. Family nurse practitioners obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and then take the National Council Licensure Examination to begin working as a registered nurse. Then, they continue their education and obtain a Master of Science in Nursing. Following that, they become certified in family practice via the American Nurses Credentialing Center of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, allowing them to become certified family nurse practitioners.
Some family doctors provide immunizations while others do not. Typically, doctors who work as part of a large practice are more likely to offer vaccines in-house. Doctors in offices of one to two physicians are more likely to refer patients to a public health department or other immunization provider.
A physician's assistant is a person qualified to perform routine medical services.
