I had my wedding at Lesner Inn in March because, like many before me probably thought, the site is beautiful. I have never planned a wedding before so I wasn't exactly pro at spotting shady business and warning signs that would indicate a venue was not a good choice. So to my untrained eye Lesner Inn was perfect. Unfortunately for my wedding day, they were most definitely not. First of all, for any newly engaged girls checking out locations, make sure you CAREFULLY read the contracts they present to you. A wedding planner is great for this because they are well aware of what not to sign. I chose not to get a wedding planner so that I could better afford the over priced Lesner Inn event. Our biggest problem with the day was the staff. Especially the manager of the establishment! She was rude and abrasive, she insisted on yelling, not talking, to me the bride, and anyone else who disagreed with her. We were supposed to have the wedding ceremony out on the deck, and due to rainy conditions were told at the last minute that we would not be allowed to do the ceremony or cocktail hour outside. It is 600 dollars to rent the outdoor space, so when it gets canceled, and you don't get that money back, you would think that they would be accommodating to the best of their ability to find a solution. Instead we got alot of yelling from their part about how the ONLY option was to do EVERYTHING in the upstairs space we had rented for the reception. We were the only event of the day and they have alot of space as anyone who has been there knows, not to mention that downstairs is a screened in outdoors deck that would give you the same feel as upstairs but dry. They will tell you that to use any other space you would have to pay for that space. None of this was explained kindly. It was my wedding day and the only thing that was happening in my bridal suite the hour before my wedding day was the manager repeatedly barging in to yell orders about what was going to happen. No compromise and no kindness in finding a solution. She caused a scene in front of half of my family and preceded to verbally attack my grandmother who just wanted to come see her only granddaughter all dressed before the biggest day of her life. Following the ceremony guest were talking about what had happened before hand...Why did they know what happened?? Because the whole staff was rudely gossiping about it in front of them all throughout the night. Also, this woman had no problem picking up and roughly relocating the ring bearer when she felt he was in a place she didn't like. I spent the better part of an hour before my wedding crying thanks to this woman. We never got an apology for any of the rudeness, and the only time I have heard from them since was on my birthday a month and a half later when they sent me an email saying we owe them 300$ for damaged linens. The scenery is beautiful, but not worth the price or the hassle. They were never even all that pleasant before the event I just kept choosing to ignore it because I loved the view we didn't even get to use. I guess if you don't spend 50,000 on your wedding there you aren't a valuable enough bride to be worth any effort. You can find prettier friendlier venues in Virginia Beach.

After having tried most of the sushi restaurants in the beach and Norfolk, Shogun has my vote hands down. The only restaurant remotely comprable is Momo's, which at one point had Shogun employee's working there as well. Shogun's staff makes the experience far superior to that of others, regardless of if you are getting something to go or dining in.

This is the greatest steak and seafood place in town. Don't be fooled by the name. Huge prime rib, great seafood, lamb chops, and fine dining. It is not cheap but it is fine dining! The owner is friendly and expects the best from the servers. I have never had bad service here. It is nice to have piano music and fireplaces that create a great atmosphere. The servers will pamper you and the chefs are wonderful cooks.

Might want to avoid weekend evenings, as some of the players get a bit rowdy while the police guard is in a chair away from any observation of the players playing dice in another room. Management is good and staff for the most part does a decent job. I especially like the service from the nice blond lady from the snack bar. The kids are kids, but she tends to take care of the order and gets it back relatively quickly. Have to keep an eye on the sponsors doing the games as I've seen several instances of borderline or even over-the-line legal issues caused by a few bad apples. I'm sure there's at least several 'volunteers' keeping some of the money, although they're hard to catch because everyone's watching their bingo cards. Most of the players and volunteers are at least friendly, but beware of those 'bad apples'

Went there and they had a 5.00 cover charge for a 4 yr old and 12 year old who was not going to watch a fight. Tried to get a sit to eat. Took nearly 2hrs, however we saw sits that were empty the whole time we waited. They need a better system. We left without eating.

Bubba's came highly recommended from friends who live at Chick's Beach about 4 years ago. Whenever there is a special occasion or friends/family/business associates are in town who enjoy good seafood I take them to Bubba's. People from as far away was New Orleans and as close as a few hours west on now ask to go there whenever they are in town. I highly recommend Bubba's and have never had a bad experience there. Eat there several times a year during different seasons. As far as the other review regarding an embarrassing smell, the rest rooms have always been extremely clean the times I've been there. Eat outside on the deck if it's warm and enjoy the Pelicans and Egret's and people waving as they pass by on their boats!

In 1973, the Shamrock Marathon was born. Race Directors, and founders, Jerry and Lori Bocrie initiated the first annual event which included a marathon, one mile, two mile, and six mile race. The event began with 59 participants and concluded with 38 finishers. In 1982, the 10th annual Shamrock Marathon was named the Largest Sporting Event in Virginia. The event continued to grow and in 1984 the first annual post race party was held. During the 1990's, the Shamrock Marathon really began to take off! In 1990, Runner's World ranked the Shamrock Marathon as the "Cream of the Crop, the Race to Run on St. Patrick's Day weekend." Then, in 1992 Shamrock was recognized again by Runner's World as one of the Top 20 Marathon's in the Country. Shamrock received its first segment on ESPN's Running and Racing and many world records were threatened during the mid 90's. In 1997, the Shamrock 8k made Runner's World's Top of the Line list on their "Exclusive Listing of 101 Great Road Races." Finally, in the year 2000, online registration was available! In 2003, Jerry and Amy Frostick took over the Shamrock Sportsfest in its 31st year. They were given the race with close to 5, 000 participants and three races. Since then, the Frostick's have grown the Shamrock Sportsfest weekend to a world class event that includes five races and over 18, 000 people! Since they have taken over, Shamrock has won "Best Schwag Perks and Prizes Worth Bonking For" in Runner's World during 2006. In addition, three World Records have been set under their reign as race directors as well as 32 national records and three participants have qualified for the Olympic Trials. All of us at Shamrock look forward to watching the races grow throughout the upcoming years and to continuing a series of World Class races with a Hometown Feel!
