Family Auto Repair Plus
Not sure what the bad reviews are coming from but my experience was amazing! Need my number call me because I never new Keith or this place existed so this is an unbiased review. All my cars are paid off and I can't afford something new let alone thousands of dollars for repair. But things need to be done so I saw this place on yelp and read the bad review and still took my car to be looked at. I was working on my own shocks and structs but the bolt was seized and I had no way to get it off. When I arrived they pulled my car in front and put 4 mechanics on the car to replace the shocks and struts at once. Next went to another repair place and my engine got messed up needed replacing. Keith was the only one who cared, got my car in and fixed without a hitch same car. Window wouldn't roll down got fixed the same time. Windshield whipers stopped working fixed same day. I've spent around about $5000 repairing my car and I asked around and would have paid at least $10,000. I'm also military and the minute he found out here comes the red carpet and back rub! No just kidding I've spent a ton of time there and seen both civilian and military such as my self treated extremely well. So if you need a place to trust come here! Thanks Keith!

The Car Shop of Vb
The YellowPages.com website for this business indicates that 'Check' is listed among the payment methods. I asked, when informed that my wife's car was ready to be picked up, if payment by personal check was okay. I was told "No, cash or credit card only". I paid for the car repairs using a home equity line of credit, from the Navy Federal Credit Union, which I do not have a credit card for. I had to go to the credit union in person, in order to obtain cash. Is it a big deal? Perhaps not, but I was inconvenienced by having to do so. Mr. Hicks stated that he has been stuck with bad checks, in the past, and I can understand why he would prefer not to accept personal checks. However, I trusted HIM to repair my wife's car, based upon customer reviews of his business (which I found on his business website). Regardless of the reasons for his current 'no checks' policy, Mr. Hicks should have listed the payment methods on his own The Car Shop of Virginia Beach website.

All Small Engine & Equipment Service Repair, Inc.
This is the VERY BEST find in local repair / service technicians I have ever found. Mr. Ron spent time - his own time - conferring with me on what was causing my Honda Riding Tractor to sputter and stop ever time it started. He then told me the prices in advance for him to pick up and take care of my aging machine. He did everything he said he would, picked it up, cleaned it so it shined when it was returned to me and not only repaired the problem but gave me a lengthy explanation of how to prevent problem from reoccuring. I have recommended him to all my friends and neighbors. He was patient, knowledgeable and overall great. My husband, if he were still alive, would have been so proud that i found him. I don't have to purchase a new machine now. Excellent work Mr. Ron. I shall return and highly recommend you in the meantime. Suzanne S.

R.O.N. on the Spot Mobile Auto Repair Service
My husband and I were traveling through Virginia Beach on our way home to the Eastern Shore when our car's electrical system went haywire. We were able to pull into a McDonald's, where it died. It was on a Sunday so we checked into the EconLodge next to the McDonald's. I immediately went on the internet searching for a mechanic. We found R.O.N. on the Spot Mobile Auto Repair and I called him thinking I would leave a message, but he answered the phone and said he would come out Monday morning. He came out Monday and diagnosed our car and found out we needed an alternator. He was able to get the part and replaced it in less than 2 hours. Ron is a very honest and competent mechanic. He was so helpful in our time of destress. I would recommend him to anyone. Virginia Beach is very lucky to have such a wonderful service Ron offers.

Family Auto Repair Plus
Absolute 5-star. Decades of automotive experience, and the best prices in town. - I had my sons car fixed here and they did such a good job, I brought my own car in when it needed a major repair. The repair was completed FAST, same day, and hundreds of dollars less than the dealership quoted! They are fast, they are fair, and they are very knowledgeable. Keith is an honest, friendly guy who wants nothing more than to get your car fixed right, and for a price less than the others. They get my highest recommendation!

Jim's Home Auto Service II Inc
My family has been going to Jim's for about 20 years now. They always get our vehicles going right and don't do us wrong in the process. On not giving price quotes over the phone, they seem prefer to know the entire problem with the exact fix. You may be able to get a price guess over the phone from other places, but these guys aren't ones for guess work.In addition, I have never seen these gentlemen act unprofessionally, again, in 20 years and two generations of family members going to them for service.

Kommon Ground Automotive
This has been the best car service I have ever had. My husband was deployed and I went to a bigger name car place and "suddenly" there were many things they said were wrong with my car and I left paying almost a grand more than expecting to pay. I meet Kommon Ground while trying to find a dipstick and Has been my go to mechanic since, hard working, very reasonable prices and will not add things on that arent broken just to make a buck :) BEST SERVICE EVER!

VA Beach Auto Haus
Auto Haus was extremely helpful to me. When attempting to add an Aux input to my Audi A4, the Audi dealership told me I couldnt do it and that they wouldn't help me. Auto Haus on the other hand, was extremely helpful and told me to come by without an appointment. They hooked my car up to the diagnostic computer and recoded my radio to accept the aux input in less than 5 minutes. If you want prompt, personal service, go to VAB Auto Haus!
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
